KeymasterRe: SMEG A1 broken door hinge
The problem is the roller on the internal hinge has broken & fallen away. I am a competent engineer, but rather than pull everything apart needlessly, I wanted to know how to get access to the hinge – it’s only held in by 2 screws (accessed from the front), but I don’t know how to get to the hinge to actually remove & replace it.

KeymasterRe: DASA
Well I guess rock bottom has been reached.
According to the AGM agenda the constitution is to be voted on for change. That change will allow associate members onto council. That means workproviders and manufacturers could actually vote on members affairs, even though some of them have restrictive contracts and are unwilling to support their networks with correct payments. It would also detract from the ideals of Dasa. They also could do it on the cheap as their subs are far lower than a full member.
How long before Dasa is run by non repairers?
Another poor idea from council and not thought through very well. If this gets voted through it may well be the last nail in the coffin.

KeymasterRe: Whirlpool AWM 5104/3 strange actions
this is interesting as ..if the customer shouts loud enough whirlpool usually will cover appliances in commercial properties for in guarantee .
For instance pubs with tumble dryers were always done in guarantee, no matter what the fault and what the spares cost. One whirlpool manager once said to me “just keep fixing it and eventually the problem goes away in most cases”, he was right.
I should stress if was of the old school and an engineer , unlike the new breed who are useless.kevin

KeymasterRe: DASA
hi Oldtog,
The trail run was with SCS insurances and I did them a 10 member trail set up …providing them with postcodes and skillsets and speed of service of 10 Dasa members spread throughout the uk.
Jason and mark were provided with copies of this and I’m afraid I lost my membership so I don’t know the outcome of this.
This did come about because 3 of us went and brokered a deal on behalf of Network-dasa for all dasa agents who joined ND to benefit. There was also on the back of this the opportunitiy to sell insurance to your customers and the repair rates on offer were £40.00 and £42.00 per call. If nothing came of this its a shame, we put time and effort into it and missed chances don’t return.
Sorry you were not part of the trail but getting 10 agents to do the trail was easy, and you were too late. No secrets and nothing hidden, I was also approached by a large manufacturer who was extemely interested in Network-Dasa. But because of the reception to ND from some council members I showed them a decent work provider to approach. This work is now done by many of us as this work provider also requested Network-dasa listings from me. However what might have been is history and I’m happy that some Dasa members benefitted, alittle bit more toward the cost of being in Dasa.
I’m not sure that the idea of networking to the extent we did it has been done before within Dasa oldtog, however its not likely to be done again.

Thanks for this, could you suggest where I look for the screws to take the panels off? I know it should be obvious but when I had a look last night nothing jumped out at me!

I have been caught out with this scam – ordered and paid for a washer/dryer – 2 false deliveries etc etc. What is frustrating is the paypal system only consider cases if advised within 30 days. With this I paid on 1 September told deliver would be the 13th when it failed re-scheduled for 24 September and then by the time I reasised I’d been had 30 days had lapsed. Credit cards promise to refund for fraudulant payments over £100 but not if paid for via paypal.
I have learnt many lessons from this experience 😡 :admin
KeymasterRe: DASA
I think that in promoting a business I would refer you to Martins earlier post. He has been quite astute in promoting his own business for his own purposes and why would he need Dasa to promote him?
Also Dasa would have to be extremely careful as to what it promotes as it does no in depth vetting of its members adhearance to its own code of practice, very hard to promote your COP when you haven’t a clue if your member has read it in the last 12 months. Dasa has to start over and return to its core function and its own membership. Trying to get involved in future legislation would be folly with its own house in turmoil.
Can anyone name me a candidate for chairman if Mark steps down? There has to be more planning for the future for sure…not legislation but simply grooming members to take over when others decide to call it a day in office.kevin
Will Dasa have a full council uptake at this agm? With several departures it will be interesting to see who steps forward into the breach.

KeymasterRe: DASA
Cheers oldtog,
Glad to see you retain a sense of humour and realism. To correct one thing…I’m not anti Dasa at all, just the same as many now, and that is I want to see what is there for me if I apply to rejoin Dasa.
12 months probationary member….3 years if some council members get their way…followed by what?
When I came up with Network-Dasa it was greeted by all with excitment and a feeling of something different. In a single stroke it generated the years subscription for quite a few. So why has it been shelved?
We can all get info from the internet and indeed the government is very upto date in keeping people informed. Much better than 23 days to produce the minutes of a meeting where hardly anybody went. So don’t throw at me the information thread.
I reckon Dasa has it all to do and I will assist in my own way. As you say bringing the issues of the day to these pages is an excellent way of making sure that this coming AGM has something to say. The real question is unlike the past can council deliver on the rhetoric? I reckon during the next 4 days we can explore quite a few questions for dasa and hopefully the council will be asked some searching questions on the day.
Just to assure everyone out there that my thoughts and comments are mine and not those of UKW. I have served as a council member of Dasa and personally know all of them, and whilst I respect their positions within dasa and the fact that they all have business’s to run it makes no difference to this debate. All are equal. Feel free to join in.

KeymasterRe: gloves off week
ok del.
1) Each council memeber to be assigned a group of agents to be his “chapter”. The council member reports the minutes of the meeting to his chapter and relays back to council the feedback. Written in 3 lines but it will take some organising. That wat a council meeting brings the grass root views to the meeting.
2) Pay one of your own to be leader for 3 months and cycle throughtout the year. £5000 for three months work. Discuss the objectives first and task a member to achieve.
I’m gonna stop there cause I aint a member and I’m not sure I should give you too much too chew on.
whilst i dont own the ideas you know where you read them first.
