KeymasterRe: glad i aint a hoover engineer anymore lol
I reckon Ariston/indesits also make the grade as un-friendly.
There are just too many razor sharp edges and corners to the whole appliance, poor build quality?

KeymasterRe: AEG oko-lavamat 88730 Washing Machine Fault Codes
Many thanks to you both for your help.
Maybe you could publish a complete list of the Fault Codes and their meanings – but jumbled-up, so as to avoid retribution from the AEG-ServiceFarce cartel? Just a thought.

KeymasterMaybe I am guilty of reading and listening but in the past I have said my piece.
Dasa has been through a very rocky period and six months ago it was decided that the crunch time would be this AGM.
Yes at present we do not have a leader but the decision was made back in May that 3 -6 months was needed to determine what the job entailed as for too long the running of the Association had been left to one person. A great deal of information has been gathered over the last few months and a much clearer picture has developed on the needs of running Dasa. All we can do is present the findings and see where the membership wants to take it’s own association.
Dasa is a non profit making Organisation run for its members by its members and it will be membership that determines its future direction.
Dels and Old Togs input has been excellent and many of the other suggestions, ideas and criticisms need to be taken on board and I am postive they will be

KeymasterRe: Hoover A1110-001 -wrong modelcode?
Hi, Guys, eell, the Hotpoint’s jamming, the Hoover dropped the belt mid-wash, so having seen the front held by 3screws,door-seal,2plasticbayonet type clips halfway up.-I attacked it first .dead straightforward except shimming the housing where the drum-end bearing had been fretting.(drive-end bearing outer race had split diametrically right round the track also across it it was truly pregnant! parts=qualitex bkt 45 =6205 2z+6206 2z+ seal. drum front clips at bottom were eased on with the aid of a loop of bootlace under the front hook -locate the2 prongs at the back, hold in place with one finger, pull the loop and voila! no cuts/curses/pings into the wide blue yonder . total job tme about 3 hrs. -it does help to have a set of bearing-drifts!

I do know that there is a machine of enormous proportions that you throw a washer in and it spews out into the correct recycle bin the rubber, the plastis the ferous etc etc. Cleanaway have such a machine God knows what it must have cost???
The point being, that for them to invest into this venture they have already done the plans. There will also be a spin into the refurbishment market as I understand that 4{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the scrap should be “refurbished”. This entails appliances being graded, inspected by a person and singled out for scrap or refurb…. and this is where there might be an opening for someone in our line of work. Of course its essentially what used to be known as peace work,i.e. how many an hour ect. Do you need to unload a trailor to pass them away as scrap ???
Just a few thoughts

KeymasterRe: DASA
Hi oldtog,
you could do us all a favour and at the pre Agm meeting ask who is taking the minutes of the meeting? It is seen as a chore and a task no-one wants to do.
We all in the past berated the minutes CH put out as not the record of the meeting we attended, so, can you ask that accurate minutes are recorded and can they be published a tad quicker than 23 days after the event. Then we can have a post dasa Agm thread….but hang on,we might not be finished with the Pre dasa Agm carve up yet.
Seriously, the objective has been achieved with this thread, as several of you are going to be asking searching questions of your council and just what they plan for the future. The replies have to be “dynamic” if the future of Dasa is to be secure.
I’m not sure that I want back into Dasa at the mo…. I am seriously busy at work, theres more coming and I have a plan to get involved with training. Just won’t have the time to spare and besides I’m not keen on the closer ties with certain work providers or manufacturers. My presence would undermine their credibility, and I don’t want to be associated with them.Kevin

KeymasterRe: Spin failure
Tx Eastlmark / Bignige
I have looked at the door switch (just in so reach it) there are 3 terms on it, is there any way I can bypass it to trace the prob to either the module or the switch. What is the easiest route into the switch ?
I looked at the control board and it has some slight charring on 1 of the 3 pin plug connectorrs on the LHS but the timer module seems to be rotating switching pump / inlet valves on etc.
If the other suggestion is the pressure bottle how can that be eliminated and is it the white bottle connected to the base of the drum ?
I have re soldered the connections on the pcb as 1 track was not making contact and appeared to have lifted partly.
Again many thanks for the promp reply.

KeymasterRe: DASA
This thread has been well read by members of Dasa and the council and I’m suprised to see that the council members are not posting replies.
Del, appboy and oldtog are the only ones bothering. Wonder why?
I guess they now realize that introducing non repairers onto the council is not possible at the Agm as the constitution does not allow change without due process. It seems that many council members were not asked about the introduction of non repairers onto the council and its news to them. So who is responsible for such an item in the agenda, when it quite clearly is not from the council and has not been minuted in previous meetings. This is why Dasa is failing. Too few making decisions the majority know nothing about.
Shame the constitution is not on the agenda. They could debate on how to set up a working party that for the next six months rewrites the constitution, and plan an egm to allow members to vote on the changes ect…
Of course who would undertake such a task? The new leader I hear you all shout!
sorry, he’s not on the agenda….so 8 months after getting rid of CH Dasa has forgotten to include this as a topic for its Agm. Instead delegates can snooze away at the back whilst several guest speakers smile nicely and wonder why the hell they accepted the invitation.Kevin

KeymasterRe: An optimistic view!
It would make sense that the companies who have been forming alliances to deal with this directive, have already thought it through.
So, we may find that such a company will offer a manufacturer a one stop shop for the diposal of all the returning appliances. For instance if a manufacturer has sales of 1 million appliances per year it may have to contribute £30.00 per appliance into a scheme which will pay the alliance to dispose of the manufacturers returns. Therefore mrs bloggs phones a national number and discloses the manufacturer to the operator who selects the correct scheme, they then handle the collection and transportation to a recycle centre, neat and tidy.
There are approx 1.4 million washers sold in the uk per year, the greater proportion being new for old, with 1st time purchase generating no returns.
So without doubt prices will rise to cover disposal and I dont think £30.00 to £40.00 is far off. The UK government actually missed the starting date and I think incurred a fine from the eu as a penalty.
There is no clear indication yet as to who is responsible for the disposal, the manufacturer for its whole life or the insurance company after the 12 month warrenty period.
You can bet your last penny that the waste license will cost a packet for anyone thinking they might get involved in the transporation of scrap….they can get 144 washers on a trailer but can’t drive it around housing estates doing single pick ups.food for thought.
