Thanks for that. I have already replaced it!

But I am reluctant to throw anything away which looks so good 😆 and may, with a little bit of coaxing, work again, even if it is for garage use.

Thanks for all of your help and advice.

    Re: Annual Inspections

Whilst good debate is whats required ..common sense also has to figure.
If an insurance company has say 100,000 calls per year to genuine breakdowns they also know that they do not have the engineering capacity within their networks to do annual inspections. I don’t think this is anything sinister at this time.

I also believe that an annual inspection is no bad thing. With the correct data in advance schedule inspections could be a nice addition to the business we do. Its all about how you approach the subject and I would expect any network who wants to go down this road will consult first.

We, the repair companies have to be open minded about our approach to a new revenue stream, lets not talk away our opportunities too soon.

    Re: Problem Removing Element

Some of these elements are held by nuts fron the back 7mm if I recall. Yes you do have to remove the whole appliance, onto a workmate if you have one, be careful Kitchen fitters are known to skimp on the amount of cable they leave on an appliance. SO POWER OFF FIRST….BEFORE YOU MOVE ANYTHING.

Better still get one of our guys to do it…12 months guarantee(most of us do) and no worries.

    hi,

Look down the right hand side edge of the door frame and there should be a label. Please supply the number which begins 85********** and we can have a go at helping you. Its important you supply the 85 number as production changes occur faster than you can say pizza.

    Re: Annual Inspections

I have heard nothing to cause me undue worry on this subject. The word is it effects a small proportion of the country Leicester, Derby and Nottingham. The scale of the problem is 4000 policies on whitegoods so thats not quite nationwide or across the board! However people do move and all could eventually get one of these calls.

It really is just a service call, we run all of the risks (it was fine until you touched it etc) everyday. The one I agree with is moving an appliance when there is just no need to.
We also work in houses where the carpet dissolves your spanner if you leave it one place long enough…we wont want to embarrass the customer by cleaning a 2 foot by two foot square…so we wont.

Lets not blow this up too much, until it actually becomes nationwide on all policies etc.
I’m sure the three representatives from Connect who are attending our meeting will be glad to put your minds at rest.

    Penguin45.

I have the same problem with the same machine – the filter is clean and it’s taking water away (having refilled the area where the water was). The start button flashes twice, repeatedly. I’ve tried to hold the start button on all cycles, and the dishwasher appears to drain and finish a cycle, but then just flashes again.

    Re: Thermostat for Zanussi Fridge/Freezer

Thanks for the info. I was just working on a recommendation by changing the thermostat. Obviously will ignore him in future!!

The fridge is a Zanussi Fridge/Freezer Model E280/2T. Old – but ideal for keeping the booze in at this time of year! Could say the same about me!

    Dave

Thanks for this and all working as before!!

However…..the new thermostat was recommended to solve my original problem, which was (and still is)..

Freezer (upper) compartment chills to minus 37 deg celcius and Refrigerator (lower) compartment is not chilling at all!!

    Any ideas/help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Hi,
Finally got around to moving the fridge out this weekend. Talk about small job turning into big job! Anyhow, I took 3 out of 4 screws holding the coils out and let it move away from the back of the fridge. Then I disconnected the drain pipe and found a problem, when I had a look there was ice around the area. The whole drain fitting was like a little funnel inside of a small pipe, Ice had formed inside this pipe. I decided then that I would be better off if I could remove the drain completly and make sure it was ok. So I started to remove the foam from around the area. about an hour later I had the drain exposed fully and had discovered that there was a cooling coil that ran horizontally near the drain attachment, the area was slightly damp and frozen. I ended up leaving the foam aroung the coil so as to not damage it. The drain was secured to the fridge compartment by some sticky gum type glue, took a little wile to work it free. When I got it off and cleaned it up I noticed a small crack in it, when I looked it was a hairline crack that probably wouldn’t have let too much water through but I couldn’t be 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} sure. Also when the drain pipe is on it would seal it all except for the very top of the crack. I used some hot melt glue to seal it back onto the back of the fridge.

Now that I have the drain unfrozen completly what would you suggest? I have a big chunk of the back with no insulation, about 2 inches of cooling coil are exposed. I can refoam the area but don’y wnat it to happen again, can I just do a portion of the area and leave the drain attachment exposed?

    Re: Thermostat for Zanussi Fridge/Freezer

    Dave

Latest info on leads, as follows:

Main power/input is Black – which is also linked to the light switch
Brown lead goes to compressor – but is also linked to a white lead.
There is another white lead on another terminal.

The two white leads appear to go from the thermostat to an aluminium element (not too sure if heating or cooling!) which dips down into the fridge compartment and into the drip channel for defrosted water.

    Hope this helps

Re: Indesit WE 16 – Error COde F-10

I’ve just had it open again just to double check the pump. I’ve reset it too – that hasn’t worked – neither has pressing the start button. I’ve tried it again and now i have an F-01 error code instead!

I’m going to leave it unplugged overnight and call indesit in the morning to see if they can help, or call someone out.

Shall I leave it at that? If so, thanks for your help.
