KeymasterRe: Zanussi drum bearings
What a nice surprise! Got the machine out & the outer casing splits in half!
Another question for you superb guys:!
Do I need to loctite the bearings onto the shaft??
Afterwards, I plan to bury them in copper grease. WOuld this be the right approach??Rob

KeymasterRe: Glue for oven door? (Indesit…)
Loctite is the goo, one small tube should suffice .
Did mine 6 mths ago and it’s good and strong.
Dow corning also make something suitable.admin
KeymasterThe fault has now been located and fixed!! The problem was the heater – this was confirmed with an insulation tester. Removal of the element showed that the casing had corroded and split. I am amazed that it still heated the water without immediately blowing the fuse every wash cycle.
Tip: Despite quotes ranging from £40 to £80 for a Blomberg replacement element my local repair shop sourced a Hotpoint element which is virtually a direct replacement. It is normally used on Hotpoint Models 17804, 9776, WD21, WM25 or WM 19 – Element Type HTR61 and is a later type with an integral thermistor fitting. Although slightly shorter it fits properly under the goal post on the inside of the drum and the sealing flange is identical to the Blomberg unit. The thermistor was swapped for the original Blomberg item because the Hotpoint connector was a different style, but the Hotpoint thermistor could have been used in conjunction with suitable push on connectors if required. The price was just £19.99 retail. 😀

KeymasterRe: Zanussi drum bearings
Many thanks guys!
I can get the bearings & a good second hand spider for £15.
One other thing: I will fit a new seal which geoes between the 2 drum halves, but should I use some sealer?
I have some semi hardening (red) gasket sealer left over from rebuilding a car engine, so wondering if I should use that. It is great stuff -0 never known anything to leak from it yet!!!

KeymasterRe: Zanussi DWS 949 top basket not washing
Dave, thanks for the quick replies.
I am going to get the arm off again tomorrow and see what I can see. The water coming out of the arm doesn’t seem powerful enough to turn it from what I’ve seen upon immediately opening the door. Could the pump be failing, but not completely?
After that I don’t know what to do.I have checked that the spray arm makes a good connection to the back connector and it appears to do so. It is positioned correctly on the basket. There is nothing restricting its movement.
I have to do something as the words coming from the wife are turning from requests to threats !! 🙁

KeymasterRe: One Million!
Excellent post Martin.
And one that I hope will cool the thread slightly……..
Of course there are issues and of course the potential of UKW could be hugely influential in the future……….but don’t get carried away.
Out of all the members we have its usually the same bunch chatting and posting, I’m sure the rest have views but we should ask Penquin to do a presentation on the idea for those who attend our next meeting. Excell help is available from me and any forms etc you need designing is straight forward. Any help Penquin might need in typing stuff up is also available from me.
The thread is very good but………..we have more friends out there than some realize, there are manufacturers and service providers that may well be willing to help with the collection of data, some of you will know to whom I refer and that our contacts into these businesses are excellent. So please recognise that we are not the WHOLE industry, but a part of it, we should seriously consider asking our friends for help as their support will lend credance to the results….

KeymasterRe: Indesit D63 Dishwasher Overfill
Well guys – thanks for your input.
The good news is it doesnt leak anylonger. Theres no scientific answer to this one – I have noticed is it doesnt fill as high as when it was leaking.
By taking almost the whole thing apart and ensuring all the pipes were not blocked probably remedied the thing.
(Speculation) Seems as if a catalogue of errors occured, starting with maybe slightly blocked filters (me overstacking the thing with unscrapped plates – lol), and the anti-overfill not working – maybe this was an airlock caused by the washing up liquid.
My advice to anyone who has a similar problem would be to first check the filter isnt blocked, secondly checking the ‘gun tower shaped’ plastic bit also located on the floor of the dishwasher (its actually the inlet for the anti-overfill mechanism), making sure neither are blocked – you’ll have to take most panels off to do this though, so mind where you put the screws! 🙂
Time for feet up 🙂

KeymasterRe: Indesit D63 Dishwasher Overfill
Thanks Dave,
Ive checked the pipes they look good as new and although may have had an airlock, certainly didnt when i blew through them (After taking them off of course).
The one remaining qutestion is the float switch – whether this is used to activate the pump out or just stop the dishwasher/pump in.
Thanks again

KeymasterRe: Indesit D63 Dishwasher Overfill
BTW the overfill is the ‘gun post shaped’ object as described earlier.

Note: If it isnt clear i have been having this conversation by myself….just waiting for someone ‘in the know’ to come along and suggest what could be problem.

KeymasterRe: Indesit D63 Dishwasher Overfill
Me again – how does a dishwasher usually (Or specific to the Indesit), know its water intake requirements?
Does it fill a pre measured amount or does it guage on demand?
I have the D63 in prieces, ive checked all the pipes, non are blocked. The overfill spews into a bottom tray (which is the bottom plate of the dishwasher), which holds the float which in turn activates a switch by raising (Due to water). Does this switch activate the pump out to keep the water level or would it just stop the dishwasher as a cut out mechanism? This would be a really usefull answer to have.
Well, as you can see I asm trying….any help appreciated.
