Re: Zanussi DWS 949 top basket not washing

The washer shuts off immediately I open the door as you know, but I can say that the top arm hasn’t moved and at the moment of opening, water seems to be shooting about 3-4 inches up in a stream from the hole near the end of the arm.

    Re: Indesit D63 Dishwasher Overfill

Ive been searching the internet for any clues for the above, i have come to the conclusion it must either be faulty overflow (Valve or switch?). I took the side panel off and it was only wet around the door area.

Apparently the doors arent meant to be water tight anyway – just splashproof. My missus put some washing up liquid in there a few months back and it spewed out of the sides of the doors – and its worked without leaking since then – until now of course.

The problem i have is theres no evidence of a overflow switch/valve – there are two objects on the bottom of the dishwasher, the element and this little round ‘gun post shape’ plastic object, i assume this takes in water when its full and actions soemthing else.

It would be great if someone could confirm this – and maybe suggest i do something to test it.

    Thanks if you can help.

    Re: Indesit WD12SUK

    Dave,

I have tried everything, calling them asking if even if I can locate a qualified engineer or even to pay the engineer the extra out of hours costs but they are not having any of it apparently all the london based engineers are on a training course so the earliest is mid july which to be truthful I find pretty poor. D & G did say I could get an engineer and they would cover some expense, I called a reputable company who sent an engineer this morning, (claimed to have extensive knowledge of Indesit)he took a look, scratched his head and said could be the circuit board , cant help took my 40 quid and away he went.

Since then I have been dabbling (dont know anything) but did get it to work on a rinse program it went about 90{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the way and then the program switch just went round and round and round

    the plot thickens……….

    Thanks dave,

I actually have an extended warranty but D & G can not send anyone for at least two weeks.
Obviously can not wait that long so looks like I am going to have to have a nose around, I will of course ensure all power is off beforhand

    Thanks again

    Re: Zanussi drum bearings

Many many thanks!! My mistake: it is a Jetstream 1200 model.

I was having a look around the internet & there seems to be a lot of Zanussi machines with knackered bearings!!

Are they prone to any other particular problem? I ask because while it is in bits I may replace other items that are ‘known problems’.

My mother may end up with the machine as her Hotpoint is dying, so if I give her the machine, I would want it to last!!

    Re: Haier dishwasher valve

you should be able to just change the coil from the unit if the actuall valve isnt available.

Nearly forgot. I think my machine is the “washcraft” series if that helps anything!

    Re: Zanussi drum bearings

    Many thanks bud.

I know it is difficult to tell without having the machine right in front of you:

Will I need any other parts? E.g. Is there a gasket between the two outer drum halves?

Also are this model particulary prone to this problem? I have become aware of WMA hotpoints being troublesome: our family have always had Hotpoints since I was a dot with our old 1848 (great machine that was!)

    Re: Zanussi drum bearings

I am 23 & just getting my own flat so prepared to spend a few evenings on it!!

Well, I don’t really want to take the entire drum out; as I will ‘disturb’ too many things that may not wish to…

I may have to, it depends whether the outer tub splits near the back or half way along.

I have been offered a new set of bearings & good secondhand shaft. The machine is about 3 years old; and I really do not want to chuck it away!!

Do you mean Zanussi are the worse for drum bearing replacements, how do you mean? Is it having to dismantle vertually everything to get to the blasted things??

    Re: Virus/Adware

Thanks to all of you……….Adware seems to have done it, took several attempts but finally we have had a quiet day, system is working and everything back to normal speed.

Whatever it was slowed the print process to a crawl to much cussing from the wife!

    cheers

Re: New Bosch WFL 1660 with poor spin performance.

    Hi Penguin,
I’ve got family in Yorkshire……kinda spooky eh!
Here’s a link to the famous Aussie solar spinning dryer that your rellies are sure to use.
    http://www.abc.net.au/dimensions/dimens … 785953.htm

We have one too, but even though we are the driest state on the driest continent we do get a serve of cold wet fronts from Antartica in winter so with HID working the TD gets a bit of a workout several times a week.
She put a load through on quickwash tonight and we discovered that if you set the control to rinse & hold….wait till it ends….then set to 1200….remove quickwash…..then start…..you can get a 1200rpm spin at then end of a quickwash program……Bloody complicated 8) but handy for drying those mountains of towels that are used once in our family.

    Hooroo…..Valvo
