Thank you for your comments. Yes, the salt is being used up. I have had to refill the container twice now since i got the machine at the beginning and about 3 weeks later.
The white residue occurs whatever programme i use , 50 degrees or 75 degrees. I have turned the rinse aid setting to 5 out of a range of 1-6 and it doesn’t help.

Nope… dont think its that, as I have rewashed the load and the water is being drained fine!
Any other ideas anyone??

could you clarify the model number as it appears to b incorrect as the ovens normally start with ADP or AHY or APL.

Thanks for advice. I may have confused a bit as water seems to pump in and out no problems and straight away when set to. the programme just seems to stick and continually be washing or running without moving forward. It just so happens that when I open door its at a place where water will be there. 🙂 The problem to me seems that machine gets stuck in certain parts of program.

All F&P spares have to be ordered from asd at Leeds. The service is not good though as not all the old F&P part numbers convert to whirlpool numbers.
Since this went to Whirlpool spares has become a huge problem and you might be better off looking at the F&P website in NZ.
Lets just say that we no longer get involved with private repairs to F&P products and spares is the problem.

I take it this is a american top loader that has a motor fault,Somebody on this site should be able to help you if you can give more details,IE age either american or new zealand model ect and as for “mtp6n60 hexfets” & “irf840” ERM yeh what the hell are they….

have you tried to contact tecnik as most manufacturers even the worst for warranty repairs will come and go a bit when it comes down to a major part replacement,most i have found will cover the cost of the compressor at least and you pay labour,try pushing a bit and you may get some where.

Re: D&G Hotpoint Work
We have been doing fixed priced repairs for D&G for quite a few years on Servis, Whirlpool and Hotpoint. Its good work and as with any work you have to do your sums and achieve 1st time fix rates, all in all D&G are excellent to work with, do have a maximum repair limit for you to work to and will always talk to you if this cabinet price does not work for you.
It works for us, very well, and as already mentioned if you can get some volume (20+ per week) you should be able to make it work for you.
I also think that this is GDA work not just Hotpoint!
If offered this work you should consider the opportunity to work with the best Work Provider by far, and build on the relationship for the future.Ted.

The engineer said around £150+VAT, but the labour would be a couple of hours worth as they’re going to have to pull it out of the mounted housing, so that adds another £150 or so to the cost. I checked online and the cheapest replacement fridge of the same type (i.e. so we can be certain it will fit in the housing) is £380.
The repair option is likely to be cheaper, but I didn’t really want to go down that route if it’s going to blow again in another 2 years and we have to come up with another £300!
