OK, thanks for your help, it did turn out to be a problem with a blockage in the defrost drain tube. It’s a Whirpool thats at least 10 years old. What happened was the freezer has auto-defrost, and there was some coffee beans that fell out of the back of the freezer that clogged the little plastic piece that catches the water and is attached to the hose. The coffee beans effectively stopped any water from getting into the hose and so the water actually froze in the plastice peice that was attached to the hose, so when it when into defrosting mode it would hit the ice block that was there and just slide down the back of the fridge, and out of the front left side.

OK, I checked and felt the tub but did not feel anything obvious, supposedly someone I know that works on these is coming over tommorow to take a look at it (he’s kind of unreliable). So if he doesnt show up I will check it. Is their any basics that I need to know of how do I go about checking for clogs? I felt the tube with my hand but couldnt really feel anything that wasnt consistant.

Well Chaps yuo both know my feelings now, especially after Friday night.
Del has spoken to Neil and got a lengthy reply, personnally I dont agree with this and its time to change. Sorry t all those staunch DASA members but I maybe see more than most and it can not continue any more in the vane it is in.

The valve should be a standard 240v washing mahine valve which is available from most appliance spare dealer.

Hi, after several goes, the dishwasher has reset and seems to be operating again 😀
I did have E2 which cleared itself and went to the last 2 LEDs on the right lit – the machine seemed to have stuck ! I did have a shop guy out who changed the pump and checked stuff but as he didnt know the machine or how to reset it he left (without asking for any payment)
I will keep an eye on the machine but many thanks for the help – UKWG did more than any helplines I rang or shope engineers I had out !

The Upper Spray Arm comes complete (thats the S/steel arm plus the central spindle) that is Part Number 50245837005 (£15 approx) The Upper Spray Arm Retaining Clip (the small white plastic clip) is Part No 50223241006 (£4.50 approx)
Not sure of course what it is that you need at this point?

how old is your smeg dishwasher?
E2 is an old chestnut with Smeg appliances
Reseting the PCB is not curing the fault
Don’t pay £75.00 call out for the pcb to be reset.

Its a 4 LED machine and its the 2 on the right handside – just wanted to know if there was an easy way to check by resetting the electronics before I pay the £75 callout 😥

you’ll probably find its a ARI siltal appliance ie BI 1200WD as stoves only badge their appliance.

I found the problem…. the wiring loom runs from the bottom of the unit up the front of the door. A couple of these wires were broken, I think just through time/usage.
