Try finding work for 7 engineers. At present we are o.k. on a day by day basis, but it is a lot quieter than normal.

Had a message passed to me from my office that there was phone call from Soveriegn today (I’m out of office for a few days) I called them back & requested they write to me.
I asked the amount, and the sum quoted was different from any figures ever mentioned before, and nothing like showing on my purchase ledger. I asked if he had copies of invoices etc to which he said, “No but they are available from the administrators”. Now correct me if I’m wrong, but if they are managing the debt and seeking settlement, surely they must have ownership of the written records invoices etc?
He asked me if I was prepared to make an offer, and told me that I would not be able to offset this against monies owed to me by MFI. You can guess my response I’m sure.

Dave, try to avoid the e-mail route as much as possible, or at least use it as a secondary means of communication. At the same time if you must e-mail, indicate you are sending by hard copy as by post.
Stick a stamp on an envelope, preferrably recorded, then they know you mean business. E-Mails are wide open for abuse.
So far there has been excellent replies regarding this, and someone may be due a pint, or even a bottle.

I wonder what would happen if any of us were on Holiday, may not see the post for 2 weeks, and natually those left in charge would not open anything marked Private/Confidential. Also if it looked money related I know my staff would not open or read it, let alone be in a position to act upon it.
Food for thought.

Don’t offer to pay or compromise.
As Ken says, the goods were bought on behalf of MFI customers, been fitted to MFI jobs as invoiced, and owed back to you by MFI.
Hopefully you have kept the e-mails regards the calls, and can demonstrate you have indeed fitted the goods in question, your invoices to MFI should be enough. If however the items cannot be reconciled they will be deemed as on your stock. Then you have a different kettle of fish, and those goods you may be responsible for. You could offer the goods back, and suggest they collect!
Naturally they will have to show you do in fact owe the amount as stated, supported by MFI records or invoices etc.
I note your concern regards the cost etc of defence. Being that you are a limited company, technically they need to persue the company, and not you as an individual. So if you can demonstrate the effect this has had on the company, and there is a risk entailed of future jeopardy, you may have a stronger case.
Finally, are you a member of Forum Private Business or Federation of Private Business, or do you pay an insurance for legal cover to your accountant? These bodies are in place for just such circumstances.
I haven’t had the contact yet regards the amount I’m supposed to owe, but am anticipating something any day now.

ParticipantRe: zanussi door lock
It may well end up being the timer. On that particular range they had a habit of not releasing the mains supply to the door lock at end of programme.
This version is hydraulically locked, so If the filter and drainage etc is o.k. and if you can open the door once the power has been off 2 to 3 minutes, timer it is then. It may be the door lock, but if so, would never release.
Best of luck

Most manufacturers I’m sure would be sympathetic if under 24 months old, and sometimes I make the commercial decision myself as I always get support from within the Electrolux Group.
However this one looks like it may be well beyond that. Without the history, cause and useage applied, difficult to pass comment.

You’ve probably got a pig of a cold!
I have an engineer on holiday next week who is supposed to be going to Mexico. Looks like the itinerary may be changing for him.
Seriously this all adds to distract from the present political state of affairs we are in.

Alex, please would you clarify what the connection is between the company in administration and Peverel Management.
Thanks
GeoffNo connection, it is just that Arrow supplied various builders, and that included supplying Peveral Management for the Mc Carthy Stone flats. No doubt the void has been filled.
The only reason I’d posted as I knew that Arrow was a large concern, yet Apollo only had 12 stores, mostly in the south, and I was not aware at all they were part of the same group.

Ohhh….do they allow a higher charge for two-man jobs such as range cookers with their feet grouted into the floor tiling? 😆Yes, extra rate for major repairs, (Tub outs & Regassing) Also another extra rate for electric range cookers, and for gas ranges. They will give you all the figures.
The main disappointment is that they have failed to increase the rate this year, yet my costs have gone up. The consequence of that is, I don’t jump as high as I used to.

Funny really, they always ask you what you will be charging, then they pay their rate in any case. Usually £43.00 for a standard repair and of course parts at cost + 20{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}.
You will have fun filling out their H&S paperwork as well.
