ParticipantRe: Odd computer thing
Sounds like as “hot-keys” thing to me.
You could always pose the question in Google whilst you are there.
I have a fault on one p.c. regards IE7. If I open a new window within a window, say from a link, I.E. freezes for about 30 seconds, then throws me out. Have carried out an update, and a repair patch, still the same.

ParticipantRe: Currys Exchanges
Our area is covered by 8 local authorities and not one of them uplift for free. Our local tip has a barrier with cameras and a p.a. system at the gate, and if they don’t want you in, they won’t let you in, not without setting up an arrangement to take trade waste at an annual fee.
We have 5 Currys stores, and only 1 is WEE registered.
If I had a questionnaire I don’t remember it.

ParticipantRe: Smeg job sheets
What a co-incedence.
I sent them an e-mail yesterday regards these. Poorly laid out, information missing and easily missed as not being a job.
Perhaps a few others ought to do the same.
Awaiting a reply.

K.I was not aware either, and Connect is now my biggest customer.

ParticipantRe: Smoking in vehicle!
Assume this was an official letter?
I thought as with truck drivers that if the cab was for single use, and not shared or a pool vehicle, there was not a problem.
How many white vans do we see with one occupant smoking and the other is not? It is very common.

I hold my head in shame….
Thought about it and reached a conclusion. If I trialled it and the 1st 3 worked, then the 4th was a disaster, I would get told, “Well you done 3 without complaint, so that means 75{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} to date this must be a good contract”.
I’m not taking that chance. I’ve e-mailled Kitt and Dave Parker & told them to take me off it.
See what happens now, they don’t have anyone else to cover my area, and we go into a lot of other areas doing Gas & Refrigeration.

This installation thing.
It seems like there are not many that like the idea, and I’m one of them.
So far I’ve said I will give it a shot, but as soon as looks like going tits up, I’m out.
There are not many Connect agents in here I’m sorry to say, but I picked up a vibe yesterday that if an agent says no, he could suddenly have a reduced workload. Nothing has been said, it was a feeling I had passed on by another Connect agent, and that to me looks scary.
Personally I think Dave Parker has been sucked in by this, and Dave being Dave is putting it out in a way that looks like it may slip in under the radar. Had they given the whole brief to Gary, he would have told everyone they MUST do it, and there would have been more dissent.
If they are trying to do this by surrepticious means, then they disappoint me. A leopard never changes its spots, Roy may be on sick leave, but some things look very familiar.

I’ve said I will trial it, but I have serious reservations. I wonder if this has been fully researched? If there was any consultation, I didn’t get wind of it, all I had was the 3 working days notice.
I’m concerned regards disposal, my vans are not equipped to take away old appliances, and if as in my case the local authorities don’t want to know I have to use the services of 1 Currys store who are WEEE registered. This I think will make or break the deal.
I have been assured there is no gas, and the only refrigeration is under counter type.
As I see it, this is a replacement scheme where a customer is renewing a built in appliance sourced from Currys.
I’m not going to throw it out without at least giving it a shot. I have to say though, I cannot see anything in this that is good for my business.
Time will tell

I bet he is blisfully unaware there were any legacies left behind. He probably thinks he done a good job in the old house, and could well be surprised if any problems came to light.

Thankyou Ian, very contrite and much to the point. not lost in rhetoric and “Government Speak”
Hopefully by putting it in the manner you have they will not try & swamp us with stuff & nonsense. Keep up the good work.

Excellent machine, and very good at what it does.
Take a look at the fascia, are there any cracks along the top?
Have you ever had new hinges?
Are the top rail runners (wheels screwed on the cabinet inner) in good condition?
If you have had hinges, top rail runners are o.k. and the fascia is intact, you may as well buy the wheels, or even consider new baskets complete, sometimes can work out cheaper.
I still regret getting rid of mine, but all the above things were needed.

ParticipantRe: REDUNDANCIES AT COMET
I agree with Lerch. I never thought I’d find myslef defending Comet, but I do feel I need to stand up for the engineer on the front line.
It can be soul destroying working for a large company where the culture tends to be that the engineer never retains ownership of the call, due to way things are run.
He is dead right regards lack of information, and it is very frustrating when you get there and the customer tells you about 2 other faults that are not on your job details. (Oh I told your girl in the office) Said engineer will have to bear the grief regards the Company, product and the store when all he is there to do is help.
I would not hesitate in taking on a Comet engineer, they are well trained internally, and remarkably faithful, if anything the only lack of support comes from the manufacturers as they do not like the idea of them as a retailer managing the work.
As regards redundancies, why are they always recruiting? They lost 3 engineers out of Exeter recently due to the new bonus regime, and need to replace them.

ParticipantRe: Who can help the guy out eh?
All very well until he wakes up dead.
Maybe someone told him like it is, however we do have to be careful, and if anyting goes pear shaped, it is UKW that will appear on the news. This applies in all cases, all this one has done is bring it to the fore.
If he choses to ignore what he may consider is Granny shelling peas, then so be it. But I’m on the H&S side of this.
