ParticipantRe: Rudest cold caller ever
Get yourselves registered with the Telephone Preference Service. Reduces these calls by 90{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}.
Some do get through simply because they have failed to run a check on who is registered. When they phone, tell them you are registered, then ask for their name, telephone number and name of their team leader. Then tell the person they are actually committing a criminal offence and you will report them to the TPS.
Sorts them out just like that. Works every time.

Thought it was time to resurrect this thread.
So we may as well start with the Office Xmas do:

DATE: 1st November 2005RE: Christmas Party
I’m happy to inform you that the company Christmas Party will take place on December 23rd, starting at noon in the private function room at the Grill House. There will be a cash bar and plenty of drinks! We’ll have a small band playing traditional carols….. please feel free to sing along. And don’t be surprised if the MD shows up dressed as Santa Claus! A Christmas tree will be lit at 1.00p.m. Exchange of gifts among employees can be done at that time, however, no gift should be over £10.00 to make the giving of gifts easy for everyone’s pockets.
This gathering is only for employees!
The MD will make a special announcement at the Party.
Merry Christmas to you and your Family.Pauline

DATE: 2nd November 2005RE: Holiday Party
In no way was yesterday’s memo intended to exclude our Jewish employees. We recognise that Chanukah is an important holiday,
which often coincides with Christmas, though unfortunately not this year. However, from now on we’re calling it our ‘Holiday Party’.. The same policy applies to any other employees who are not Christians. There will be no Christmas tree or Christmas carols sung. We will have other types of music for your enjoyment.
Happy now?Happy Holidays to you and your family,
Pauline.FROM; Pauline Lewis, Human Resources Director

DATE: 6th November 2005RE: Holiday Party
Regarding the note I received from a member of Alcoholics Anonymous requesting a non-drinking table… you didn’t sign your name. I’m happy to accommodate this request, but if I put a sign on a table that reads, “AA Only”, you wouldn’t be anonymous anymore!!! How am I supposed to handle this? Somebody?
Forget about the gift exchange, no gift exchange allowed now since the Union Officials feel that £10.00 is too much money and Management believe £10.00 is a little cheap. NO GIFT EXCHANGE WILL BE ALLOWED.Pauline.

DATE: 7th November 2005RE: Holiday Party
What a diverse group we are! I had no idea that December 20th begins the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which forbids eating and
drinking during daylight hours. There goes the party! Seriously, we can appreciate how a luncheon at this time of year does not
accommodate our Muslim employees’ beliefs, perhaps the Grill House can hold off on serving your meal until the end of the party – or else package everything up for you to take home in a little foil doggy bag. Will that work?
Meanwhile, I’ve arranged for members of Weight Watchers to sit farthest from the dessert buffet and pregnant women will get the table closest to the toilets, Gays are allowed to sit with each other, Lesbians do not have to sit with gay men, each will have their own table.
Yes, there will be flower arrangements for the gay men’s table too. To the person asking permission to cross dress – no cross dressing
allowed. We will have booster seats for short people. Low fat food will be available for those on a diet. We cannot control the salt used in the food – we suggest those people with high blood pressure taste the food first. There will be fresh fruits as dessert for Diabetics, the restaurant cannot supply “No Sugar” desserts. Sorry!
Did I miss anything?!?!?!?!?!

Vegetarians! I’ve had it with you people !!! We’re going to keep this party at the Grill House whether you like it or not, so you can sit quietly at the table furthest from the “grill of death”, as you so quaintly put it, you’ll get your f****** salad bar, including organic
tomatoes. But you know tomatoes have feeling too. They scream when you slice them. I’ve heard them scream. I’m hearing the scream right NOW!!
I hope you all have a rotten holiday, drink drive and die.
The Bitch from HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RE: Pauline Lewis and Holiday PartyI’m sure I speak for all of us in wishing Pauline Lewis a speedy recovery, and I’ll continue to forward your cards to her. In the meantime, the Management has decided to cancel our Holiday Party and instead, give everyone the afternoon of the 23rd December off with full pay.
I liked the Alcoholics Anon one.

KevinBloody good idea, I forgot that was in the pipeline.
The theory is to get the idea across that it is more their problem than ours, and if they try & seek payback from all agents there could be mutiny.
He should be canny enough to see what companies are being pedantic when it comes to settling their dues in any case. I have a feeling that CDSL thought they could “manage” the account and maybe to absorb a small share of claims that didn’t come with money on the bottom line. In the case of LG it will cost them shedloads, and they will endeavour I suspect to offload some of that.
Time will tell

Does anyone want to get something out into the open regards the LG rejections.
Can’t really do it myself, as not getting any rejections (YET) so not really qualified. I think if they get wind of a bit of disquiet regads rejections, they might not be proactive in weilding the big stick regards claw-backs.
I saw the e-mail they sent to all, and agree a lot of it is where users fail to input all the information. However I do feel that they should have a better model verification procedure for a start. WM’s and WD’s they seem to mix up when they send the job to us. They give us a model that starts WD whereas in effect should be WM. Daft thing is, you can then order bits on the wrong model because the Bill of Materials is corrupt, and ultimately clear the job on it.
I know there is a heading already on CDSL and suppose there is no reason why we cannot reinvoke that one.
Just looking for a gun to fire some bullets from.

ParticipantRe: Connect & LG
Everything I’ve read to date is spot on.
L.G. used to run a contra system. We found that when we were getting the statements, we always owed them. To start with OK perhaps we were learning the regime, and bought some stock. After a while though, got a bit silly.
They used to put on the statement the calls they were paying us, not our job numbers, but something that was unique to them. Therefore impossible to reconcile and back track.
After a while, and after pressure they changed to a normal purchase and sales ledger system. Still we were paying more than receiving, and it got even sillier. At this time, all Service Force agents were carrying out the work.
After getting lots of bad vibes from most of us, John Dugdale decided to remove the Service Force side of the link up, and those that preferred to stay with LG could do so.
I took that option. Wasn’t a good idea. Most of the products were supposed to have had a 5 year parts cover at point of sale. Some had 2 year labour, some were D&G.
Then the rejections started to pour in. Historically they went back 2 years in some cases. Biggest reason would be, “Unable to find cover details” yet maybe in the interim we had been back to the same product, supplied the same information and they had paid that one. Another ploy, if an electronic part was fitted, they would send the paperwork through the technical department for them to peruse 1st. They once told me that Tech had a backlog which was over a year old. Why they couldn’t send a copy was beyond me. Another was there were 2 departments regards how you get paid, one was if insured such as Coverplan, the other was if in year 1, and if on their own 5 year cover, then it was anybodys guess.
Eventually, I could take no more and told them to stuff it. Guess what, thay came in via the fax machine from ISDA at £8 less per call. There was an advantage though, ISDA took the hit, and suffered the needless rejections.
Then about 18 months ago, LG picked up the phone to one of their previous contacts hoping to renew their relationship. The contact person was having none of it. Then they tried one of the major insurance companies to see if they were up for it, that fell by the wayside as well.
When it came back to my business via CDSL, I was not too bothered as I felt it would run similar to the ISDA method. I daresay CDSL had the same sentiments, until they looked a their balance sheet.
The worst 2 I ever dealt with in this business as regards administration and total lack of support were L.G. and of course BRANDT. If we start getting accountancy issues which are not due to us, then I will vote with my feet.
Maybe I ought to give Roy Fisher a history lesson.

ParticipantRe: Fridge Freezer Cold Location
It means having to get it through to the end user that the fridge thermostat controls the whole appliance.
Therefore the temp of the evaporator will need to get back up to around + 4 deg C to re-initiate the stat to allow the compressor to kick in. If the room is 10 degrees or below, and you have an insulated fridge cabinet with the door closed, what chance does the poor thing have at getting to that + 4?
I used to say to customers, “this room is so cold, you would be better off opening the fridge door to warm the room up”
One I had on the phone yesterday:-
CUST. “My fridge freezer gone wrong, come down this morning, and all defrosted”
ME. “Is it in a cold room”?
CUST. “Oh no, it isn’t that cold out there”
ME. “I presume it is in a utility or garage then”
CUST. “In the utility, but the central heating boiler is out there, just a moment, you’d better have a word with my husband”
CUST. “What rubbish are tou trying to tell my wife? Yes it is in a utility, but the central heating boiler is out there as well. I’m a retired engineer you know, and you can’t try and sell me that old rubbish”
ME. “Does your boiler emit any heat from the cabinet”?
CUST. “Of course not, the heat goes to the radiators in the house”
So there we are trying to help, making efforts to assure the customer there is no fault, and once the ambient warms up, he will be up and running and all he could do was shout at me.
So I booked to old fool for the end of next week, than he may consider that we were right assuming there is a temperature rise before then.

Agreed, after all the subscriber forum is here for a reason, and some things are better being said behind closed doors. For example my remark regards driving distances.
However, that should not detract from raising this afresh in the rumour mill, and those of us that have already posted will copy & paste from here the bits we feel we need to make more public.

Still £27 per call, but there is the mileage allowance, and we do a far bit of driving in this area being fairly rural, if you know what I mean. Therefore most calls are at £32 and some at £36.
Regards Medical, we don’t touch them, used to but got fed up of going to hospitals and nobody knowing what product was faulty, or even where it was.
We don’t do enough of them to cause us a problem, but I wouldn’t entertain other products such as the cooking for such silly money. If I have an issue with their pricing structure, I will deal with it before the Summer kicks in for sure.

No, but funny you mentioned it as I was wondering myself today.
I had the letter telling us all about the change to Prescot in Merseyside, and they would be in touch very soon, and that was it.
I would have thought they would at least check out who is who now in the repair circle. Now that the silly season is hotting up, they could be finding it difficult to keep abreast of the cooking work, and all the time some of their new found agents are fully conversant with their products already.
I suppose they will get round to it, I’m wating to see how the payments start filtering through before I get too excited.

It sure used to be but since taking on the Dimplex agency I find we manage to keep our end up through the winter months. Lots of storage heater repairs
Dimplex agency, didn’t know they used agents. Do you get the cooking as well? (Belling/Stoves) and what about refrigeration now they own Lec.
I’m intrigued as we are long standing Lec agents, and we have not been fully briefed yet by Glen Dimplex as to the future.

ParticipantRe: Cats
PRACTICAL TIPS ON BATHING A CAT
1. Thoroughly clean the toilet.
2. Add the required amount of shampoo to the toilet water and have both lids up.
3. Find the cat and soothe him while you carry him towards the bathroom.
4. In one smooth movement, put the cat in the toilet and close both lids. (You may need to stand on the lid so that he cannot escape.) The cat will self-agitate and make ample suds. Never mind the noises that come from your toilet, the cat is actually enjoying this.
CAUTION: Do not get any part of your body too close to the edge, as his paws will be reaching out for anything they can find.
5. Flush the toilet three or four times. This provides a Power Wash and Rinse, which I have found to be quite effective.
6. Have someone open the door to the outside and ensure that there are no people between the toilet and the outside door.
7. Stand behind the toilet as far as you can, and quickly lift both lids.
8. The now clean cat will rocket out of the toilet, and run outside where he will dry himself.
Sincerely,
The Dog

ParticipantRe: Practical jokes.
When on the Electricity board we used to get apprentices to go down the stores for a long weight.
After about 10 mins the storeman would say, o.k. youv’e waited long enough. Another one was for the road safety lights beside any hole that was dug by the outside gangs, oil was used. They would send newbies into the stores requesting a gallon Red Oil for the lights at night, plus 2 pints of White Oil for the daytime. Not once did anyone question why have lights in the daytime, let alone the fact the colour of the oil was immaterial.
Many little things as well, such as tool boxed nailed to the floor by a Hilti gun. Overalls or your coat stapled to the wall on a building site. The vice in the W/Shop wired to the mains.
Good old days

We make the same consideration.
It is all too easy to consider dropping a few more grammes in, but being an explosive substance, not worth the risk. If it is brand new, then worth a shot in case it was underdosed in production, but only after one good look over and a stand by test after vaccing.
