    Re: Long lived Indesit !

I used to love these when I worked for Indesit back in the day.
The hardest repair was a timer, even the bearings were easy to replace.
    Simple, reliable and cheap.
But these were made before the beancounters took over.

Not all of it. Have been to a few customers where these idiots have taken £100+ over the phone, mis-diagnosed and written the machine off then refunding all but £65 ‘administration’ fee. I’ve gone out and cleared blockages/replaced pump for a reasonable price.
Did any of the customers get any joy for the mis-diagnosis? Did they hell… these companies deserve all the crap that happens to them, I just feel sorry for some of the genuine engineers that try to make it work.

Had to do it in the past on cooker hob rings, still have to do it occasionally on oven fan elements, though they now come with silica gel bags so it’s less frequent.

Maybe I should call for both Electricians and Appliance engineers be better qualified.

When I did the Pat test management and operative courses there were three 16th edition (it was a few years ago) electricians that failed.
    Beggars belief tbh.

    Re: Beko

I went to a Beko made CDA dishwasher last week where the PCB had started to burn away, the plastic fascia had started to melt.
Fortunately the RCD tripped and it went no further.

Not the first one I’ve seen go like this either.

Agency has informed CDA, but they don’t appear to be that bothered.

Also bear in mind that your accumulated experience means you will tend to diagnose faster and make fewer mistakes, so overall a win win situation. 🙂

I got one of these through as well.
I’m going to keep it as a reference when selling an ISE, just for comparison etc. 😀

Re: Whats the most annoying thing customers do?

Just had a guy knock at my door to complain that I’d overcharged his daughter for taking 20 minutes to clean the filter on her washing machine.

Never mind the fact that the filter was so clogged you couldn’t open it. Never mind that I spent closer to 40 minutes draining, then dis-assembling the pump and assorted hoses in order to allow the filter to be removed for cleaning. Never mind that I re-assembled and thoroughly tested the machine on several cycles.

All that for £50… too much anyone?
Bloody cheap if you ask me.

    👿

    Re: golocal reactive

I’ve never had a single problem with it since mobiles have been in common use.
As a sole trader it would be suicidal not to answer the phone as 90{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time it’s a customer wanting a job done.

Maybe it’s just us northerners 😀

I was looking at those reviews and one of the complaints was

‘Engineer answered phone on the job’ ..

    What the hell?

I’m just gobsmacked by what some people will bitch about.

Just had a call from them.
Actually quite rude, because when I said ‘wait, you charge me £150 to do your work?’ they just hung up on me..

I didn’t even get time to mock them over the phone. 🙁

Is it just me that enjoys working Christmas eve?

I’ve had some really really good Christmas eve’s, and I’m not just talking about the money. Everybody’s broke up from work and they’re all happy. Makes for a great day imo.
