When the motor ramps up does it run nice and smooth?
Didn’t get a chance to. It aborts within half a second. Seemed smooth though.

ParticipantRe: Creda SO77EE cooker Error code 08
Managed to suss this one. With a little help from a Hotpoint buddy…
The ER 08 code is for an overheated module.
Possible (likely) causes are:
Too high ambient temperature
Faulty cooling fan
Bad installation (restricted ventilation)
Faulty PCB.In my case, as the cooling fan will not come on until I select over 210C, I suspect the main PCB
Fancy putting an Eprom board in such a situation. Is this what to expect in the future?

Jim, the flow meter is in the metering system in the left hand side wall.

It’s called a “measurng can”.
Sometimes this fault is caused by a bad connection on the little edge connector type plug. (Or sometimes very low water pressure.)
Worth cleaning the contacts first.

Bit more info in this one…
Full model number SO77EEW S/n 501220420 (Another number 0332563000 on rating plate)
I have now seen the machine. It is all electronic… God, is this the way forward 😕
It has a digital control panel with a microprocessor board just above the oven cavity 😯
On arrival it had ER08 showing on the display. Turning it off and on made no difference.
I checked all elements for continuity and earth leakage… all fine.
The temperature is controlled by an NTC device.
In a bid to prove the NTC was ok I disconnected it to check the error code. Now showing ER01 ( btw, the cooling fan was limping round very slowly at this point)
With the NTC reconnected the appliance now seemed to work OK with no error code showing
However…
It has an indicator that flashes when the appliance is preheating and it should be on constant when the temperature is reached together with an audible bleep (according to the user instructions). However, although the heater was cycling on and off, the indicator remains flashing with no audible bleep. I tested it at 140, 180 and 210C.
The cooling fan did not come on either until I turned the temperature setting up to 210C!
My gut feel is that the NTC is faulty as that is the only component that I disconnected.
Any help to confirm this would be much appreciated and a part number for the NTC would help.
Thanks

ParticipantRe: Bosch WET2820GB/13 Motor open circuit
Greg, thanks for the email.
Looking at the wiring diagram, I am begining to wonder if it’s the control to the motor at fault.
I can see the brushes through the end cap and it would appear that there is plenty of life left in them. The appliance is low usage and only 2 and a half years old.
Be interested to know how the tacho works without a coil…

Hello Martin.
How does the tacho work if it is open circuit? I assumed it is a coil as in any other motor.
I do get continuity from the terminals to the armature. And from the field terminals and centre tapping. How is the TOC wired?

I use my PDA phone (O2 XDA Exec) for most of my Internet connection. I usually look up parts on the Connect website and sometimes browse the UKW site for help.
The XDA is great for use as a diary and part numbers etc can easily be copied and pasted from the customers’ notes to the Internet browser for ordering parts etc.
I have all my stock and customer details listed in excel format on an SD card that I can read at any time on my XDA.
I only really use my laptop now for TDS disk.

Same technique, only instead of a magnet, stick the other end of the pressure tubing in the vacuum cleaner nozzle and use the suction to get hold of the object.
I live on the coast and I quite often get small beach pebbles stuck in the front plate. This method has worked for me on several occasions.

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint 6550B top oven door hinges
Thanks Chris. I will try that one. There’s quite a few unique bits on this cooker. This particular one was the first in the run and sold to engineers at a knock down price as a trial. I will let you know the outcome…
Thanks

ParticipantRe: Britannia Cooker SL-6-EG-BR
Thanks Bryan. Because it is a dual fuel appliance (and it’s for a friend) I was only going to supply the parts anyway.
I will pass these details on and let them decide for themselves what to do.
Thanks again.

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint 6550B top oven door hinges
I ordered 2 and had the last one in stock. It looks similar but won’t fit. The original has a plastic bit on the pivot and is about half the thickness!
I will wait for the backorder one to come in and see if it’s the wrong one in the bag
Thanks for your help boysBob
