Hi
I advise the customer before going to the job what is covered under guarantee and what is not.Lots of the jobs you have a idea of the fault before going so for guarantee work I try to explain to the customer before OOB loads and blockages etc are not covered.
Its amazing how many customers solve it themselves when you say you may have to charge!
Yes Good point Madmac, I actually make an effort to drive slowly now as I used to drive like a mad man when working for manufacturers,dont want to get too stressed out now.
I would just take the points.
In financial terms, the cost of a day off work and having the phone off all day means no taking calls and booking for the next day.
Even with the small increase in insurance it won’t cover the lost work.try it now Phidom, no joy.

I will put money on customer has inadvertantley activated the demo mode.
The programmes run down in 1 second intervals.
Has caught me out before.What is your email address and i can send you deactivation process.
(could even be you inadvertanly put it into demo as you said you put it into test mode!)

I have put a few WMA tubs in replace of wf machine where the bearings have gone.Bear in mind you will need a donor WMA machine as you will need the wma motor, counterweights, pump assembly, sump etc.
On the WF machines I have done the suspension positions are in the same position.
Don’t forget the pressure switch as the sealed drum switch fills very low when put in a WMA.
Also the wiring to the heater and the pump will need to be extended.
Basically its a big job, I found it quite interesting though, havn’t had any recalls from either of them yet!.

being the largest repair company in the Uk means they are bound to get more than their share of criticism.
Personally since I have been working for myself I havn’t had any customers call me when there appliance is under Comets extended guarantee, I have only had calls from customers with machines under guarantee from the Indesit group.
I wouldn’t do the job for that money if it was me.
Slightly off subject but a irate customer called me yesterday asking when I was due to turn up to look at there dishwasher.
After talking to the customer it turned out Repaircare had passed my details on to the customer, expecting me to turn up to the call without even telling me anything about it.
I have never done any work for them or been in contact with them! ha ha, what kind of a setup does this?Stories like this are common with customers who have extended guarantee’s.
This type of unfortunate thing is not just a Comet fault, not alot you can do if its out of stock.Strange its out of stock as I know Comet use Masterpart and Qualtex.
I put a door seal on a Hotpoint integrated washer dryer BWD129 today, the inner door retaining band took ages to put on again.
Does anyone know the part number for the WMA retaining bands that have the screw in retaining band?
Yes I agree with you Madmac, giving technical advice to total strangers is more than potentiousley dangerous, that is also the reason I stopped posting on the public forums.
Well that and loosing jobs as customers said they had sorted it out via this website.(Sounds like I am trying to be contentious but Im not, Im gratefull for the jobs I have completed that I otherwise wouldn’t from the tech advice from this forum)
Has anyone else had difficulty getting invoices from them after buying spare partts? I find I have to chase them for ages. So agnoying!
