How do you tell someone that on a machine they’ve operated fine for years, that it’s now too difficult to do. There’s obviously some underlying medical problem as she literally has no strength.

If you are 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} certain there is no fault , I ‘d ask the old lady if she has a friend or relation that you could explain the problem with on the telephone.
Maybe even ask them to go round and try closing the door on the machine with a reasonable amount of force .

I’d ask them to treble check that hot/cold fill hoses are not reversed. Then I’d tell them that if it is an installation problem they will be charged accordingly for a 20 mile each way trip.

There you go , that should get rid of them 😉

Just for future reference it’s the very common 6204370 element used in this model.

It’s a Hygena model no. John.
The door will come in all it’s bits and pieces for the usual Crosslee tumble dryer door spares.

Could do that as a last resort but I was hopeing some of my great mates on here might be able to tell me which one it’s most likely to be :).

I’d probably just order them both rather than go back , measure element , order replacement and return for fitting.

You see what a hard time us self employed guys have , time is money and yes I know I should have paid more attention on my first visit :x.

    Hi Jim

Do you actually think you would get away with ordering that Bosch motor from Qualtex and only pay the price mentioned or do you think the price would be noticed and adjusted accordingly. I guess it would get their attention if you ordered half a dozen of them :).

I could drive down to Manchester to collect it , give you a tenner extra to yourself (plus a bottle of cheap wine) and still make a profit 😆

Sorry , I know it’s a serious and annoying situation when these things happen and it’s too late for me as I’ve ordered it from Masterpart @£129:99+vat.

C’mon Qualtex give us an answer please.

    Re: Awkward Situation

Just to update this one , the guy gave me the go ahead to replace the motor and he seemed fairly reasonable after his initial onslaught :).

Now where can i get that motor a wee bit cheaper .

    Cheers for all replies.

    Re: Awkward Situation

Thanks for the comments guys 😀
I couldn’t bring myself to quote no labour charge as I’d only be clearing £32 on supplying the motor at £185.This is a built in appliance and a PITA to remove and install.

Quoted him £185 plus a nominal £15 labour charge and after discussing his bad luck , cursing the cost of the motor and keeping me on his mobile for 4 mins. , he’s chewing it over and will get back to me soon.
“Probably don’t have any effing choice” was his closing line and those type of remarks always irk me but I just said to myself grin and bear it.

To be fair he did accept the fact that a new motor is not my responsibility and seemed to appreciate I was doing my best without robbing myself 🙂

I’d make sure the motor and wiring tests all ok.
Don’t know if it’s just my luck but I often find a faulty motor blowing the module on Hotpoint WMA range.

Thanks Mark , fitted the part as supplied by Connect and there was even a hole already drilled in the bracket to fit this new style stat.

Customer has now used cooker three times and all seems ok :D.

Yes Chris that picture is the stat I’m after rated at 190C but if you order 818730550 from Connect it’s a different stat although it comes in original Smeg packaging with genuine part no. printed on it.

I was hoping someone might be able to confirm that the part they’ve sent is a direct replacement for the campini stat in the above picture.

That John Lewis advert has been there for a while , hadn’t noticed the Which free 30 day trial advert till now.

    No problem , thanks anyway.
