ParticipantRe: hotpoint intergrated dishwasher
Check on this machine, if its got the overflow straight into the base from the tub, and can cause motor problems. You will see the overflow in the base stands about an 1 1/2 inches high.
This can be caused when the filter gets blocked or when using 3 in 1 tabs (supersoft water) raises water level.
Overfill situ, straight into base and usually enough to soak the motor.
As Indesit / Ariston.burns
ParticipantRe: hotpoint wd64
You may have already done this, but one very common fault is where the motor wiring runs along the side of the cabinet, it rubs through just behind the cable tie and can short the motor wiring and also the dryer thermostat are in the same loom so they too can go.
I always fit extra spiral wrap at this point, on any call to hotpoint washer dryers.burns
Participantwashtec wrote:can the eeproms be reprogrammed, I have an elvis programmer that I use to program gold, funcards and titanium cards for my Tv interests, the elvis multiprogrammer will also do eeproms.
here it is http://www.the-internet-shop.co.uk/Prog … rogra.html
when Burns says that the eeproms cannot be programmed by design, is that because they are now fixed to the pcb or is it because they have been locked in some way?
It should be a case of reading a good eeprom, saving the image and writing the good image over the corrupted eeprom. As with Indesit generally, the module were fitted with the eeprom already programmed, developments have seen a reduction of boards carried and service spares now come excluding the eeprom (programme) all new eeproms are blanks and require programming. Indesit do this by means of an interface connected to a laptop choosing the correct model on a programme which then downloads the eeprom file.
We would need the interface, which is not the most reliable used, the programme and the laptop, all for a machine thats worth £200 or just a little over.burns

Give it a try next time Andy, unless youve got sausage fingers its a doddle. I tried the cable tie, thats how the initial training vid showed, before the tool was developed. Only thing is the tool looks impressive being about a ft long and a big screw on the end it scares the customers into paying..
The cable tie I struggled keeping it on the end of the peg, some use a 13mm spanner to work the barb, but I find twisting it to a position you can just push the barb in and turn slightly pulling towards you.
Let me know next time how you got on.
Whatever works I guess.I could have had piano fingers, had I not been tone deaf. ehh

ParticipantOn this type control unit I came across a machine that an engineer had been to and replaced a drum. Unfortunately for some reason unknown he had removed the timer seperately. When he put it back the two way green plug top and the two way plug bottom also green (that was the washer dryer – normally purple had been swapped.
The fault I was given was tripping electrics and now dead. No history at this stage.. The other guy had long since gone.
meggering the machine showed a s/c thermistor. I removed the heater and the blown control unit, nothing obvious other than the blown board, carried out Ins – Earth and resistance checks all was well.
The machine ran, no problem. washing fine, never got as far as heating as the customer asked does it spin cause thats when it went, I was informed. Casually putting it on spin BANG.
After ages head scratching and the customer being more honest about pre call eventually. I realised the plug to the thermistor measuring resistance was crossed with the plug going to the pump, putting 240V on the thermistor when selecting drain, what a P*G.
Point here you couldnt tell by looking at the plugs or control.
I did feel a clever so and so once sorted but the bill for two controls (it wasnt my place to pay for them) and heater and a fair amount of time, they said the pre guy hadnt charged for the drum, ensured a hefty bill.
But I always check this whenever I am replacing any WM, or WD controls.
I guess its easy to do but harder to find when its works out like the above situation.
Well Done, IODM you never forget these do you, but weve all been there.burns
ParticipantIts great turning everything down, but the majority of appliance manufacturers are consolidating, the biggest problem the future holds is take for instance Indesit Co, it doesnt matter whether its an Indesit, Ariston, Hotpoint or Creda they will and 90{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} already are badged variants of the same or certainley using common components and design.
This gives rise to problems such as module faults as in the case of Indesit, click – click – click, which now affects three of the four named above. Thats four of the biggest names in the appliance trade, thats becoming unrepairable, to being unable to programme eeproms through design. I say whack in as many drums as you can. takes about an hour and enjoy the money, save it in the bank for the rainey day when they say its clicking…..
Or lobby Indesit to provide modules programmed as they use to do.
The WMA drum is one of the easiest and simplest drum changes that been known, lets face it how many other machines can you change the tub, from the top and front, draw out the drum and build up in front of you with the tub on its face.
Tip for those that havent, GDA devised a tool to remove damper pegs, after trying everything I ditched the tool and other methods to lubricate the peg turn with a pair of long nose pliers until I could feel the barb on the peg depress slightly whilst turning, as long as the drum is something like straight this will come straight out. I always remove the front wieght prior but leave the top on at this stage to hold the drum down. The rest is history.burns
ParticipantRe: Creda/WM type no spin.
Its really one of those that you know you are just going to have to put the bits on and try, if needed Ive a good used contol unit 904242502 hpt wm although ive new ones I saved this to get me out of trouble at some stage or other.
Your more than welcome to pick it up and use it.. SK6 just off motorway at Bredbury turning. I ve also a good test rig for Hotpoint / Creda motors.
Let me know if needed – If it helps you are welcome to it.

ParticipantRe: Creda/WM type no spin.
with this control board it will shut down if tacho circuit fails and re attempt. Also if triac faulty it will shut down, could well be when firing on triac for spin that this is causing the board to shut down.
If this is the case you will get bursts of spin and then nothing.
If this helps?I

ParticipantRe: WASH-VAC SITE 24/08/05
I have been a great fan and loyal customer of washvac over the years we have paid for stocklink for probably the past 8-9 years and enjoyed the benefits, although not having a shop counter anymore has taken some of the need away. but I always felt it was good service and what you saw is what you got.
I have known our local rep for ten years and come to think of him as a friend, but I am at a loss to work out the new website, just cannot do it..
I found a part on connect (which was out of stock – not a problem it happens), swapped to parts centre and tried, no chance just could not do it. I reverted to the washvac.com old password and bingo placed my order. deliveries today no chance it was out of stock..
My advise to washvac, take Bob from eurorealm out for a big dinner, get him very drunk  and ask him to get the customers back..via stocklink.I bet connect are rolling over laughing at present. :rotl:
Its not down to price its all about having what you need, when needed and being able to find it.. They really have gone back 10 years or more, but I guess thats progress. 😥August 23, 2005 at 9:33 pm in reply to: I think I need new Carbon Brushes. Blomberg 1301ABB/Selni #145289burns

WHEN FACED WITH THE SAME, THE DISPENSER IS ABOVE THE DOOR SWITCH – DUE TO LEAKING FROM THE DISPENSER BEHIND CONSOLE, IT HAD RUN INTO THE DSWITCH AND BLOWN THE BOARD, I AM SURE THE RESULT WAS NO SPIN. ON INSPECTION OF THE BOARD YOU COULD CLEARLY SEEN IT HAD BLOWN, APPARENTLY TALKING TO A COMET ENG, THIS CAN BE COMMON ON MODELS WHERE THE DISP IS ABOVE THE D.SWITCH. PRICE MAY BE AN ISSUE HERE.

ParticipantRe: Amusing Anecdotes & Other Tales
Dont you just love them… we have had a customer for years and no matter how many times you feel youve knocked them on the head they still keep coming back..
This lady originally booked a call to a Zan wdryer, banging. when we arrived she had just moved into the flat and it was nearly on its side.
We levelled it and tested and made our invoice out. That was that.
Time moved on we received another call from her. it was booked next day, then cancelled, then she turned up at out then other shop and happily purchased a new washing machine, but it had to be delivered that day. Needing the business we did and left it with our man Costas (coz he always cost us). Later in the day I asked how he had gone on, to be told that she asked him to look at the original machine found a blown fuse replaced it and left.
I telephoned the customer informing that due to her cancelling the service call we sent a delivery driver not an engineer and should not have attempted any repair on her appliance. We accept no responsibility for her machine under any circumstances. Her reply “I asked him what I owed and he said whatever you think” and pocketed the £20 she gave him. 👿
Get rid of her,,, but some years later the phone rings, the shops have gone and you think yes I still owe you one. so I attended to find a HPT first edition with an out of balance spin light flashing. She then informs me that its still under warranty and what do I owe you. So I took my £40 and said next time you have the same problem read the book or phone hotpoint, she clearly thinks the machine has mended itself because it now is spinning.. 😉
Two months later shes back on, come and see me again, well its under warranty, I dont care come anyway was her plead. So off we go.
On arrival she greated us outside telling me to move my van, but isnt this your parking space. yes exactly.
Thinking should I just drive away, but Ill get nothing. Anyway once she’d got that out of the way she’s back on the nice side again…cup of tea. reload the washer and watch it spin.
This time she wants rid, she wants a really good machine, really expensive that wont let her down.. I recommend the Siemens WIQ1434 at £899 (she can afford it) Great bring it tomorrow. 😛
I am thinking of the lovelly hotpoint washer coming in. and the phone rings guess what, cancel the machine.
She paid my Invoice of £40
Most of my calls are taken by my brother these days so I am waiting for him to kick off about this woman, cause she’ll be back I am sure.Eventually we fired Costas, for going on call to fit a wm door switch and getting a recall a few days later due to leaking door seal, when asked he stated it had a hole in it, further questions about size and he calmly stated “it was big enough to fit the switch through it.
Customers like this one and trainee engineers like that why bother.. 😥burns
ParticipantRe: WMA Drum 5 yr Guarantee
Point in question, re invalidating warranty.. Genuine parts are sold by Hotpoint (Indesit Company) fitting the correct part to the correct machine by an experienced engineer, to the standards required by the manufacturer, (whom will now take any one from anywhere – painters, ikea salesmen, forklift truck operaters etc and train in three weeks to be a dom appliance engineer) why should this invalidate the warranty.
Speed of service in many cases may be up to 2 weeks to get the call.
Independents are beating these people hands down. better service, knowledge and standards, you are not just a number, you are your business.
As I stated earlier the WMA had a massive impact on my business. and adding insult to injury by far my biggest competition was ex collegues running round of an evening, using GDA transport, tools, and free stock to repair machines on my doorstep, all because they had been introduced to the customer, when they had attended the drum replacement under warranty.
On one occasion we had a customer turn up on the counter, with a good set of brushes, and wanting a new set, my dad, being honest advised that they were not worn and did not need replacing. The customer also asked the price of a new motor. We gave it list price and offered a call to advise or if pref they could bring us the motor and we would have tested it.. the same came back a week later and informed us that a hotpoint engineer had replaced the motor (much cheaper “he gets his at staff price”) and charged her £50cash. Parts are really cheap when youve a van full of free ones.. perhaps that even a better way for the customer to get the job done cheap, with such things going on I dont think your brother will loose his parts warranty, cause nobody in the organisation could give a stuff any more, its not like the good old days, its recalls – lots of naff calls and get home to do the night shift..burns
ParticipantRe: ASKO SERVICE
This is not a agent basis, we are simply ensuring that we are able to offer customers a suitable repairer within a postcode area.
To be included leave details click on the PMeeting box Company name – telephone no and postcodes – I will draw up a list that we shall refer to when a request comes in from the customer which is not undertaken through our Maytag repair network.
Some Independent Service Partners like the thought of repairing ASKO some are not so keen, so it does leave gaps…
Any comments drop me a note. Thanksburns
ParticipantRe: Hotpoint 9514 wiring diagram
If you are stuck drop me a line, I have checked timer 168887 which has init the 06 timer and relevant mod kit. You have to change the original wiring conn block to a block on the rear (in the kit) the timer knob for this timer kit if memory serves is a 168807 (brown)
If the tech sheet enclosed with the kit is required send me your fax number and I will fax the sheet over. -
