    Re: MAAC Ltd

    What’s a “cabinet fee”?

A cabinet fee is where you agree a fixed rate and you cover the cost of any parts, Charge for labour only.
Its possibly ok for a manufacturer if your paying factory costs on spares. But cant see any advantage unless the fee was something stupidly high and I doubt that.

    Re: MAAC Services Halesowen.

Likewise, out of the blue an Lg fridge freezer.Information very thin on the ground. Googled address and it appears as a block of rented offices.
Also asking if we do a cabinet fee. Surely thats for the insurers to work on.
How do you offer a cabinet fee buying spares off Connect????

Did you do the call and have you been paid?

Factor in the extra cost of van insurance, if under what is these days 65…was 21 then 25. And the early years damage he will probably pick up and weekend fuel, he wont use. Lots of hidden costs.
The van insurance seems to be the biggest hurdle to employing any young engineer.
    Which is a shame.

    Re: Tool theft

Sympathise, I foolishly left a tool case in the back of a van in a decent hotel car park some years ago. This was my everyday kit. My what I call decent kit with all the gear we need but not on everyjob, Id taken off. But three years later there are still the odd item I suddenly realise I need. Checked the cashconverters and ebay. But nothing. Would have gone for a few quid in a pub somewhere.

Horses for courses, but lease always worries me. Knowing when it goes back someone will take a looffok at the vehicle and hit me with a bill to sort any damage.
With HP your vehicle is worth what its worth. We dont abuse our vans but they still seem to pick some form of damage.

Re: Why has the DASA Administrator resigned

Yes I can confirm toys and prams. Unfortunate as it is. The more unfortunate situation is that as Administrator he was charged with communicating with members and officers this was passed to a non dasa member in his absence who on encountering some changes to the website commenced with a campaign of emails, which now having access to Dasa communications removed for the good of the association feels he must continue this campaign on using ukw instead.
A statement will go on the Dasa site this evening if not before. Hopefully I shall be speaking to Mr Coombes later today to confirm this is the case and wish him well.
In the mean time if anyone has any concerns drop me a line.
07956503856 or burns354@gmail.com or contact dasa by email at office@dasa.org.uk
One thing I am certain is I am sure Ukw dont want to entertain dasa laundry on their site?

    Re: Winter Tyres?

I ran a Jag X type absolutely rubbish in bad weather. For a front wheel drive with the top of the range Michelins it was useless. Bought a set of cheap Chinese winter tyres and it would go anywhere. I was then up and down the country I didn’t want to get stranded and I didn’t.
They cost about £240 for a set, ran for two winters and sold for £150 and saved wear and tear on my regular tyres.

    HPT5600130 fits hotpoint wm.
This is shown in connect with a second bar to extend the extension socket bar. This was not included with this.
TBH, I got this for a friend of mine some years ago. he never used it as he didnt do bearings. He’s since died and his wife is getting rid. (sound like a typical ebayer).
Box tatty but contents all new.
If you want it. I can invoice at £50 plus vat if its a business sale and vat reg or you can pay by personal chq with no invoice / vat.

We use to retail Siemens WIQ range, most still out there. Odd new door handles, door gaskets etc. Ten years on and still performing well although the purchase price was high real quality. Anyone else still getting brushes on the Hotpoint WM’s these must be 13 plus years now and we still get them in for repair. What will be out there in another ten years? Split drums or not. Bet my WIQ is though, unless one of the three pcb’s go. Ouch.

IMO The small silver can looks like a crystal, so its got a frequency involved. definitely some form of receiver or emitter.

Had a call back in May (must be my negative comments). Didnt get it booked as quick as they wanted as it was out of area and wasnt too sure about them. Likewise I got a stroppy voicemail from him. Better off without them.

Re: Pulling machines out on board

Had a hotpoint floor protector for years, but it was much thicker than my original. A few years ago I had the inspiration to trim it down to just less than 60 wide not relevant to the thickness and added a small nylon rope handle. Rather than trying to get the machine onto it I can push it under and with the handle snatch it back from under. Great when you get a machine thats been installed on already torn vinyl. Why didn’t I do that years ago? The effectiveness was improved ten fold.
