silly me ! well as long as you know it’s there, it obviously wont kill you . my apologies . by the way , could you let us know how to disconnect the board while it is live ? which part should you grab hold of ? …and why would anyone want to do this anyway ?
surely the very fact that the guy had to ask the question should have been enough to set alarm bells ringing or maybe i am wrong

Nige99 wrote:Hi, had similar problems to many on this site, with our Whirlpool American fridge freezer which is only a couple of years old….

    (Ser: 8586 402 15000 11 0640 012549)

We had the front board replaced under warranty after about 6 months as the front panel kept going blank and – – appearing every now and again… over the last few months we’ve had spurting water and for the last couple of weeks things in some areas of the fridge have been getting frozen and the temp being lower than it should everywhere (fine for beers, not so good for food)… Had I been a single bloke, no prob’s, but not so good for the family!!!

Obtained the kit and replaced the components on the rear board and the spurting water problem has now been resolved, which is brill…. problem with the fridge temp has not changed though. I’ve cleaned out behind front grille and rear cover, got rid of dust etc. but not sure what steps to take next as problem remains…. When I switch on power after a couple of mins I get the alarm and a ‘d’ showing on the fridge display, but this goes off after about 5 minutes. Having read the comments on this forum I was thinking that it might be a relay, but which one? or the motorised baffle thing, which I’m not sure I can easily get at? or is it likely to be something else…. could do with some detailed advice plse…. and being pointed in the direction of more parts if I need them…

    Thanks… Nige

d is the motorised baffle – either frozen up still or damaged by trying to operate while frozen ( it is in the top of the fridga cavity in the left hand corner )
power off before attempting any panel removal

Re: Admiral Fridge Freezer (side by side)

First thing Nelix is to check the compressor actually is running , it is situated behind the rear panel and there should also be a fan adjacent running when the compressor runs ( compressor will also be hot to touch if it has been running for any length of time .if it doesnt run, try opening fridge door and see if this starts the compressor ? if so , the pcb inside the top of the fridge at the front is faulty .(where you set the temperatures )
Safety first, and power off before any panels come away, and keep well clear of the fans etc when powered up.

I understand the Admiral Fridge Freezers have Whirlpool electronics.
There is a huge forum here on this site explaining the problems with the circuit boards.
    Possibly a cheap fix.
You will need to take the back off, look for the rear module (in a plastic box) and see if it’s the same.
Check the label and see if it’s made by ‘Ispracontrols’

Hopefully we can get your unit working again.

No, these are different set up brodders …much simpler

It has a centrifugal switch , usually visible on the pulley end of the rotor – worth just checking this hasn’t seized or stiffened, something a quick squirt of wd40 might rectify ?

Rang a customer Wednesday evening to arrange a visit for his Fridge the following day ; Offered a slot between 10 and 12 . ” I have opticians appt at 12 ” he says, so I end up re arranging my schedule to suit him, causing me a bit of extreme driving :rolls: …
I arrive at 10.30, only to be told he has cancelled his opticians appt ( thanks for letting me know 👿 )…The reason ? He has a very bad cold that his nurse daughter thinks might be swine flu , and he didnt want to pass the germs on to anyone else 😯

If I remember correctly, I originally had a 375cc single stroke with the engine accesible through a plate in the floor of the rear, before I was upgraded to the luxurious 500cc version ( I am sure Mark will remember 😆 )

Blimey,is Debor still available ? I remember 30 odd years ago when I started work and the reps from wash vac, maddocks etc used to call and there would always be an order placed for tubes !
Memories of standing on tubes which then split on carpet tiles :rolls: …
and a very vivid memory of a very hairy dog running down a customers garden with a tube stuck to its muzzle , and by the time it was caught, there was half a forest stuck to its head, along with the still stuck tube completely matted up amongst its fur !
And as for the smell that used to linger in the tiny honda acty van….i was permanently floating !!
Happy days lol ( sorry, not sure of the answer to your question , but the standard advice used to be to advise long enough for you to be out of the area before attempting use 😆 )

Might seem obvious, but is there any damage to the salt container cap or seal ? broken thread etc ?
