Re: IPSO HF165 (Commercial Laundry) Wiring diagram

pardon if you have already checked, but these usually have a wiring diagram in a sealed bag fixed under the tray that holds the contactors etc. – unfortunately, if someone has been at it before, they often pinch the diagram for future reference. i have a couple of scribbled bits from when i worked for jla, but nothing comprehensive…. is the wiring damaged at the timer or further down the loom ?

Re: What’s the most illogical fault you’ve had to find?

i went to a whirlpool integrated fridge freezer , many years ago , in west london. the complaint was that the panel doors were faulty, as the fridge door wouldn’t stay closed.
i advised that the fault was no more serious than a poorly positioned champagne bottle 😕 yet had to remove entire contents of the shelves to prove the point, and was still treated to the ” dont believe you ” look 🙄

Re: Whats the most annoying thing customers do?

had the classic ” holiday weekend panic ” call yesterday. got phoned by the office around 1pm to drop everything and attend a school kitchen for a gas leak. drove 50 odd miles to get there and greeted with compliments on my swift response. goes into the kitchen, and gets confirmation that the combi oven is leaking gas. now, i was aware the area has no natural gas, so when i see an electric combi oven and no lpg equipment either, i start to look for jeremy beadle.
my further questioning reveals that they are aware there is no gas within 500 yards of the building, but are convinced the blue cylinder connected to the back of the unit ( water softener 🙄 😈 ) is leaking fatal fumes – of course, the ” leak ” has been apparent for over a fortnight, but they thought it best to get it sorted as they would be closed for the long weekend.
i left with advice for the janitor on how to clear the drains, and returned to my backlog of calls.
this would be a fantastic job if it weren’t for the customers !

once had chas ( chas and dave ) make me a cuppa while i took some debris from his washer pump – i could get no reply at the door, and woke him up, so he spent the whole time in his boxers 😮 ashamed to say, i didnt realise it was him till i was leaving, and mentioned the grand piano in the living room 😳

i also removed the remains of a burst feather pillow from nurse gladys emmanuel ( open all hours ) zoppas washer 😉
called at esther rantzens house when i worked for whirlpool ( philips m a ) and was paranoid about hidden cameras 😆

check the internal ducting, and fan housings , and outer ducting if fitted. sounds like an exhaust airflow problem

    Re: maytag front loader

this was happening on maytag washers when i worked for jla back in the late 90’s , and is well recorded and known about ! their technical dept is now not worth bothering with since they ” lost ” the two technical bods that knew what they were doing .
the mah14 is the coin op version of the neptune, and share the same shortfalls 😥

i agree with dave there – almost certainly hot valve going o/c under load.
used to be very common fault

can sometimes get away with heavy duty cable ties , as we used to use on the whirlpool dishwashers

some of these units had a centrifugal switch fitted to the rotor, to switch from start to run winding. these should be visible as a plastic collar on the shaft which moves along the shaft under speed to operate a micro switch – may need lubrication or just dicky micro switch. worth checking first.

for this plumber to be paying £3,000 to take re assesment would send alarm bells ringing, unless he has no current qualifications; is registering multiple engineers ; or is going for every module going. just doesnt compare to anything like my experiences
