Re: How To Spot The Engineer

i can remember seeing a hotpoint 1600 ( what a horrible machine they really were ! ) self painted by an arty type woman, and thinking how daft it looked- this was my first experience of anything out of the ordinary, but seen dozens since.
wonder if mark ever saw that one ?

Re: Miele litlte giant t/d-door pops open during cycle-why?

hi mandells – likely to be resettable safety stat on element bank popped out. if it has, just check the ducting and internal pipes to make sure the air flow out is unhindered.
    good luck eddie

well worth sourcing through rs, or any similar electronic outlets. we used to do this when i worked for a miele agency, though more because miele were always no stock of the things

    Re: employment with merloni

    word of caution, der ;
i recently filled in the on line application form to work for merloni, and although they stipulate your application is confidential, my boss was contacted by the regional supervisor to ask him if he was aware his engineer was looking to leave him 👿 and this was before they even contacted me !
i spoke to the personnel dept to register my displeasure 🙄 and was met with a promise the regional manager would be informed and i would be contacted. that was 3 or 4 months ago, and i still have heard nothing !

    Re: 120 Volt pump

you could try http://www.jla.com , at their spares dept.- they are commercial laundry company, and i know a couple of years ago, they had large stocks of 110 volt pumps as used on the maytag neptune washer they were selling .
they were the usual permag type pump – you may need to change the cap.

    Re: women

when i first joined whirlpool ( philips ma ) – mid 80’s – we had a lady on our course, who ended up shadowing me for a few weeks. she didnt last very long, but that was not because she wasn’t capable; as i recall , philips used the fact that they were equal opportunity employers in their advertising, and tried very hard to get more ladies, but i dont recall seeing any more while i was with them.

Re: Ford Connect Premature Tyre Wear

spoke to old colleague since my past post, and seemingly he has been told unofficially by ford dealer that there was ” a batch of duff tyres “.
reckon it must have been a big batch !

Re: WD40 sprayed in cooker switch

Hmmm, i was also a lot younger when i knelt behind a hoover 3236h that was sparking from the comm after fitting new brushes….with my trusted tin of WD i sprayed into the running motor – the resultant flame thrower would have put james bond to shame, and it was a while before my eyebrows grew back evenly 😳

Re: Ford Connect Premature Tyre Wear

i had one of these vans 18 months ago, and had same problems with tyres needing replaced about 9000 miles.
was told it was a recognised problem, but ford wouldn’t admit to it.

😆 au contrare, ken. i have settled in well , north of the border .
i have even been invited to the next borders haggis hunting expedition – i hear they can be vicious this time of year, though the end result is delicious, even for the delicate palate of a ” blow in ” 🙄

I have very many happy memories of those distant days, and could write a book ( offers by pms please ).
