Plausible theory on temp sensor positioning but seems a bit complex to rely on door contact temp to equal water temp.
Actually it’s probably the simplest way of doing it 😉
…and having looked at the tech this is indeed the base model in the series so no pcb or fault codes!

It won’t be the timer 😉

Well health and safety dictates we can’t give you a remove screw ‘A’ and ‘B’ type instruction (see forum rules), suffice to say the lid doesn’t have screws, is secured at the back then slides back and lifts off 😉

Sounds like it’s simply not filling with water…most likely cause is food blockages.
Have a look HERE…it’s a similar model, and while you’re there check the microswitch above the float.

Lid off, RHS panel off then see if you can carefully turn the wash pump by hand using a finger or blunt object through it’s end frame (carefully avoid the windings)
Let us know whether it turns easily or not?

Yep, it’s a thermistor (temperature sensor) and the silver grease is heat transfer compound 😉
I would imagine it’s placed there for a couple of reasons…firstly if there is insufficient water due to another fault then the pcb won’t pick up a temperature rise and therefore throw up a fault code and abort the cycle, secondly there’s less distance for the harness to reach it (cheaper, and the wires don’t get flexed at the bottom of the door)

We’ve been working with DEFRA for a few years trying to get something in place to help consumers make an informed choice which, I’m happy to say, they have.
They intend to introduce durability labelling which will show people how well built (to a degree) that the machines actually are alongside how well they perform.
K.Why does the phrase ‘can of worms’ spring to mind?
In both principle AND practice i’m all for something like this but the cynic in me wonders how on earth this could be a reliable and provable measure, particularly as manufacturers wheel out new designs constantly.
Will the products be subjected to rigorous, reliable and repeatable tests, but more importantly who will test them?

ParticipantRe: Smeg DWD1SSE-1 won’t start
Sorry…misread your postings! I assume the machine worked ok after replacing the dispenser in which case the door switch may well be the problem.
The only way to check this is to open it up and meter the switch.

I’m afraid there’s a distinct possibility that the root of the problem is the dispenser solenoid which has now damaged your new pcb 😕
Maybe time to get an engineer to inspect?

You need a seal kit (pt. no. 419027)…an email to Shop@ above should secure one, and yes you’ll need to separate the tub from the base i’m afraid

ParticipantRe: smeg dishwasher not finishing program
As i said before it could be the dispenser solenoid going open circuit, you may need to check the heater for earth leakage, or it could simply be a duff pcb.
Time to get the meter out or click on a link below to see if we have an engineer you?
HTH?

ParticipantRe: whirlpool ADP 4400 7flash fault
F7 is a flowmeter failure which means your flowmeter is prolly perfectly ok but the connections on it need cleaning/tightening.
The flowmeter is behind the LH side panel, fitted into the water chamber on the side, has a little pcb attached to it with a small connector block carrying the wires. Disconnect the block, clean the pcb tracks (very fine emery) squeeze the connector block to close the contacts slightly then reconnect.
Power off at all times :zap:

ParticipantRe: smeg dishwasher not finishing program
I suspect the reason why you’ve not had a reply yet is that is an unknown error code which means it could be a whole number of things.
By the fault description the first thing to check would be the dispenser solenoid….
Let us know exactly what happens after you press start?

I agree, the membership cost is very little in the overall scheme of things….and fantastic value.
Feel free to send me an invoice Ken…
