I’ve had a handful of float switches stick shut…worth a look especially if the chamber and transfer hose have been gunked 😉

It would probably help if you could identify the exact part which is humming 😉

That’s the one, the connections will be inside the back panel.

Power off at all times while checking :zap:

Highly unlikely you’ve disturbed the timer wiring, more likely you’ve disturbed the wiring on the mains connector block which is near the element you replaced 😉

When it fails to start, does it make any noises at all?

Unless there are more people in the area that suffered damaged appliances too in which case the answer is categorically yes!

Hang on to the old board if that’s the case, it’s there for the electricity supplier to inspect if they wish (they won’t of course 😆 )

First check is the obvious…is the supply tap turned on, and is there a decent water pressure?

If it sounds like the drain pump runs continuously and nothing else happens then it may be that the flood protection has tripped. This is usually due to food residues on the inlet side….take the LHS panel off and check that the hoses and chamber near the bottom are clean…

    Re: Siemens SE26T251GB/10 Noisy

Of course it’s possible that if you’re run it without the filter securely in place then it’s ingested something like a small piece of food wrapping which has caught on the wash pump impellor. The noise would be more like something catching in the spokes of a wheel on a bicycle travelling at 60 mph, and the cure would be a strip down and clean out.

Without an experienced ear the only way to diagnose is to take the RHS panel off and look for tell-tale signs of water leakage through the wash pump seals 😉

Despite the problem, don’t be too fed up with the machine…they are a cracking product and it’s quite uncommon for an early failure like a wash pump so would be well worth fixing.

    Re: Bosch SGU43A02 burning smell

If the drain pump runs all the time even with the door open that usually means the flood protection has tripped in which case you would have noticed water in the base of the cabinet or the microswitch above the float has stuck.

I’m more concerned about the display though…the Bosch boys on here could tell you if that is an error display or not but to me it doesn’t sound like it in which case the pcb itself is the fault.

I have had one or two where the dispenser has popped the board but these were obvious by the damaged relevant triac on the board 😕

    Re: microwave buzing/humming confirm suspicions

Well Torxhead, you are obviously learning on the job, inverters have been about for at least ten years now. Inverters are electronic circuit boards that provide the necessary high voltage to the magnetron, they are fairly reliable, lighter in weight than a transformer and far more expensive (to the end user). They are nearly always unrepairable when faulty mainly due to the fact that manufacturers don’t provide detailed technical information and testing the high voltages produced without the correct equipment is lethal (literally).
To answer your question directly without the ear of experience to hear the noise, the only pragmatic way way to test for this fault is to substitute a known good magnetron.
Sorry to sound harsh on this but it’s out of concern for your safety, if you are already measuring voltages on the magnetron you are putting yourself in grave danger if you do not have the correct measuring equipment and use safe working practices…..

    Re: Bosch SGU43A02 burning smell

If the pump is running all the time (I take it that’s the wash pump?) then most likely it’s not heating and therefore not completing the cycle…if you’ve had a good visual check of the pcb and that’s ok then most likely it’s the heater.

The only way to confirm is with a multimeter looking for around 22-23 ohms across it….

Incidentally, the wash pumps do smell a bit if they’ve been working for too long (they are not continuously rated) but it will most likely survive. 😉

Martin i’ve received modules from BSH with no programming sheet included, in fact the first one i fitted had no sheet and UKW saved the day 😉

    Re: Knee Pads

My vote’s for the kneeling pad…started using one a couple of months ago and now wonder why on earth i didn’t use one before! It’s as light as a feather, just fits nicely in the top of the tool box and like Martin says it keeps you clean too 😀
