Chris…doesn’t the sealing ring fit below the stainless steel and on top of the softener?

THE worst i’ve ever had the displeasure of attending to was in fact a ceramic hob!
Alarm bells rang as soon as i walked in, the owners had a complete full sized stuffed tiger(!) in the living room festooned with the laundry hanging to dry alongside the gas fire giving a lovely combination smell of fabric conditioner and wet fur!
Worse was to come, as i was shown through to the kitchen the lady warned me that they had a pet gibbon and although they’d just shut it in it’s cage (it normally has the run of the house) it might make some alarming noises…well, we’ve all heard the little rhyme ‘little birdie flying high, drops a message from the sky…’ but it seems this monkey had done some low flying over the hob, i was greeted with a large neat brown package sitting right on the corner of the hob :shake:
I politely refused to remove the hob to get the serial number……

Hi Brian
I’ve had a few diverter valves fail on these over the years, it’s part of the heater box but this can be checked by simply listening to a wash…you should hear the spray noise change slightly every minute or two as it changes from upper arm to lower and back again.
Other than that i’ve seen a couple where the top arm is worn enough it catches the underside of the top basket, or more usually the arms are blocked from running without the base filter being seated correctly.
I did sort one on monday that had suffered from broken glass which had been ingested into the wash pump but the giveaway to that was a total lack of spray pressure…

Hi Laurence
Almost every one i’ve been to with this fault have the poor connections on the flow meter.
The flow meter is built into the water matrix on the LHS, it has a tiny pcb on it (no electronics just a means of attaching it’s three wires). You simply need to disconnect the plug off the edge of the board, clean the track edges with something like a pencil rubber or very fine emery, squeeze the connector plug a little to ensure a good contact grip then reconnect. It takes longer to take the side panel off than to effect the repair 😉

….well this particular model is WAE24162UK/01, now replete with new bearings AND seal 😆

There is a whole plethora of Neff and Bosch models and it’s probably unlikely that there is a perfect match (at least that any mere mortal will know!)…why do you need it, are you looking to replace the appliance?

ParticipantRe: Diplomat ADP8322
Most likely it’s water control system is blocked….take out the base filter and have a careful look in the 3 o’clock position, you will see a black grid. This needs cleaning but beware there is a rubber diaphragm immediately behind so don’t use anything sharper than your elbow to clean the holes.
A kettle of hot water and a toothbrush usually works though if it’s really stubborn it will need taking out and disassembling to clean (twist fit from underneath). Plug out at all times if you need to strip it out :zap:

Yep, always best to get any number available, it always helps 😉
IIRC most of these are Siemans/Bosch units….

Is it possible the seal broke/washed away due to the bearings being unable to take the strain of the wash load whilst stay intact.
Certainly not in this case…as i said we needed to establish the condition of the spider to determine the cost of repair, well a quick wipe to remove the scum/soap residue revealed the seal collar on the spider which was totally shiny and untouched! 😆

Cheers Chris…just what the doctor ordered!
I returned on this one today assuming it was the bottom pcb and this proved correct. The only snag was the connector for the condenser fan motor decided to disassemble itself when i tried to unplug it 😕 Naturally the motor has two wires and it’s connector has three positions 😯 so after measuring +8v(dc) on one edge track and -8v(dc) on an adjacent one to establish the wire positions i managed to spend 20 minutes reassembling the tiny connector block.
All plugged together, machine now running but no condenser fan!…20 mins completely redoing it’s connector block again before discovering the fan motor is open circuit anyway……
Gotta love this job 😆 -
