What this means that, impressively, you can put your hand between the base of the pan and the hob top and the water in the pan can boil without affecting your hand one bit.

    K.

But what happens when you put your hand on the ring that has had a hot pot boiling for half an hour on it? 😉

    Re: Bosch Wfo2866gb/07 No Motor

IIRC the motor connections are in pairs in the connector block Bob…ie armature pair next to each other, field pair next to each other and same for tacho. Again IIRC the reading for the tacho is in the order of 16-18 ohms?

When the motor ramps up does it run nice and smooth?

If you are going to provide any tech information at all then perhaps a parts list would be most useful to engineer and public alike? Remember the cookers of yesteryear…they all had parts lists at the back of the instruction book and often an exploded diagram too.
This would mean that owners who would have a go at attempting a repair themselves would be able to access the parts via dealers who would be able to establish the competency of the user, and perhaps even advise them to use one of their engineers anyway?
    Just a thought.

The new drive coupling now has a metal insert in the plastic moulding which means it will last longer before splitting.

    Bad news. 😥

    Steve

I’ve only seen one that split!…all the other failures i’ve seen are where one or two of the teeth have stripped off 😉

I’m sure it’s designed to be a weak link anyway to protect the gearbox/agitator if a big load jams in the drum?

    Re: whirlpool top loader

Simplicity….two 1/4in headed screws hold spring brackets to clamp the motor to the gearbox…remove screws and prise off brackets, the motor drops off (unplug wiring harness at motor block)

Be careful not to break the new coupling, they are a tight fit on the respective shafts….i usually ‘persuade’ them on with an old 13mm socket tapped gently with a small hammer 😉

Check the usual soap dispenser solenoid for continuity (flex the terminals up and down) and the element for earthing. Failing that if the code doesn’t appear in the list then it’s always the pcb itself 🙁

Yes indeed and quite spectacular…the protective ‘cocoon’ he was in amazingly stayed in one piece while the rest of the car exploded around him!
Lucky man to be alive IMO

The only way to clean the roof of the dispenser box sufficiently IMO is to strip out the box and unclip the top from it…you can then get the channels completely clear under a hot tap poking them if necessary with some cable, and get a good flush going from the nozzles to the back of the unit.

Then don’t forget to do a maintenance wash periodically…

Yes it is possible, but you’ve nothing to lose by unplugging it for a day then trying again….that may sort it.

It’s also possible that the compressor was running at the time of the power cut in which case it wouldn’t be able to restart after just a minute or two so would trip it’s own TOC as self-protection. The TOC is self-resetting so it would run again after 15-30 mins.

I have used jubilee clips with great success….the secret is to use two of them with the screws opposing each other 😉

Yes indeed the control knobs are black on this model although the clock buttons are silver so we’ll go with those.

It involves a small amount of dismantling and re-assembly with the associated electrical hazards too…if you are not up to it then best call in a professional 😉

6 flashes is ‘flow meter failure’….not usually failed, most likely a poor connection to it but it could need the metering tank replacing or the pcb itself could be faulty.

If you’re having a go yourself then don’t forget to unplug before you do anything :zap:
