ParticipantRe: Whirpool ADP 4501/5 4 flashes.
I usually manage to clean them in situ effzedarr, as greg suggests with a toothbrush or similar. I then follow that up by pouring some near-boiling water from a kettle in, enough to cover it, then with a long piece of silicon tube suck and blow the water through the mesh.
Just make sure the hose is quite long, or don’t suck too hard 😯

Have another look at that hose? It needs to be fixed really tightly as there is considerable pressure in it when it runs.
Have a look at the start light when you try to run it…does it flash and if so how many flashes before a short pause?

ParticipantRe: Another joke.
A Mother had three virgin daughters. They were all getting married, and mom was a bit worried about how their sex life would get started. She made them all promise to send a postcard from the honeymoon with a few words on how marital sex was going.
The first daughter sent a card from her honeymoon in Hawaii two days after the wedding. The card said nothing but “Nescafe”. At first mom was puzzled, but she went to the kitchen and got out the Nescafe jar. It said: “Good til the last drop.” Mom blushed, but was pleased for her daughter.
The second girl sent her card from Vermont a week after the wedding. The card said only: “Benson & Hedges”. Mom went to the drawer where her husband kept his cigarettes, and she read from the Benson & Hedges pack: “Extra Long. King Size”. Again mom was slightly embarrassed, but she was happy for her daughter.
The third girl left for her honeymoon in the Caribbean. Mom waited for a week, nothing. Another week went by and still nothing. Mom started to get really worried. Then after a month, the card finally arrived. Written on it with shaky hand writing were the words “British Airways”.
Mom took out her latest Harpers Bazaar magazine, flipped through the pages fearing the worst, and finally found the ad for BA. The ad said: “Three times a day, seven days a week, both ways.”
Mom fainted ….

ParticipantRe: Customer removed parts? some advice from the wise
Well done Col, don’t have nightmares you’ve done the right thing, and none of us really needs customers like that 😆
As far as a register goes it would be a nice idea but a legal minefield best left avoided IMO

ParticipantRe: Rest of a whirlpool DWF417
If you count the number of flashes the light makes between pauses and let us know along with the service number of the machine (format 8545********).
The number of flashes relates to a fault code which will point you in the right direction.

Hi AB
Have a look in Shop@ on the left. If it’s not listed then a quick email will get results.
As far as more detailed advice on access and replacement we can go no further (rules of the forum)…basically, if we advise and you hurt yourself/your property in the process then there could be an element of liability going our way.
Once again, isolate from the power before doing anything :zap:

ParticipantRe: DO YOU TELL THEM
1. Not the sort of thing i’d say to anyone really….it would effectively be saying ‘you’re not able to make good choices in your purchasing’ which can be taken as insulting. Much better would be to ‘big up’ other brands…this often leads to a sale too 😀
2. We’re always open and honest even if it means being frank about cost effectiveness etc.
3. We freely give it but in a balanced way comparing the positive side of all products….gives the customer the power to make their own decision based upon the professional advice we’ve given them, and as in 1. this often leads to a sale (even if they opt for the repair option at that visit they return for a new appliance months/years later)
All in all, the customer is the one who makes the final call but if i think they are making the wrong decision (in my opinion) then i’m not afraid to give them my opinion. 😆
