Hi Poppy
You might like to give Kitchen Economy a ring on 01222 451222
They keep a good range of bits and pieces, if they don’t have the original knob they may well be able to supply an alternative.

….besides which Myke if your machine is filling too quickly (which can cause problems with the timed ‘top-up’) then there is an adjustment to be made on the circuit board to reduce the length of time for the top-up :lesson:

Is it the cynic in me that suggests an independant laboratory might be required to test the water, before and after freezing? 😉

If the deposit on the glassware is a fairly uniform coating then another possibility is the softener is at fault….if it’s valve isn’t shutting off correctly then it will deposit salt on the crockery giving a cloudy deposit. This is easy to check by tasting it (!)
If that’s the case then the cheap answer is not to refill it with salt (you say you live in a soft water area) but use the 3 in 1 tablets instead just in case youe water supply isn’t completely soft.

ParticipantRe: SMEG DWF66 – diagnostics
Hi Alistair
You can usually detect an intermittant soap dispenser by checking the coil for continuity whilst gently bending the contacts back and forth a little. If the coil is faulty the circuit will disappear!
Don’t forget, plug out before doing any work :zap:

I have to agree….my patch is probably one of the most affluent in the country and I’ve met numerous seriously wealthy customers (the one’s with titles, country estates and house/boats all around the world) and they generally are some of the nicest people you could meet. The customers who have made a million or two themselves tend to be the more unpleasant ones. A sweeping generalisation maybe, and there are always exceptions but it’s still an abiding impression i’m left with.

If the delay timer has failed preventing the machine from operating then you wouldn’t get any humming noise at all.
Sounds silly but have you checked the obvious like taps not turned on or fill hose kinked?
Is the humming noise the drain pump running perhaps….or is it the sound of the inlet valve trying to let water in?
