Re: Grease for bearing seal Hotpoint WMA series

I personally use bike chain grease!….good bike shops sell it in small tubs, it’s the waterproof white grease often used in factory assembly (molybdenum grease i think?)

Re: Defrost cycle on F/F Freezer?

Hi Martin….essentially the defrost the defrost process is controlled by a timer (used to be mechanical but now usually electronic) which periodically switches off the compressor circuit and switches on a defrost heater to melt any ice build-up on the evaporator. The heater is controlled by a small stat or thermistor which switches off the heater when it’s above zero i.e. the ice has melted.
After a set period, the timing device switches the heater cicuit off and the compressor back on to continue with the cooling process.

If the compressor is continuously running it suggests there may be a problem as it itself is controlled by a stat (probably the pcb in your case). Most likely the compressor is a little worn and struggling to keep the cabinet at a low enough temperature….if the fan is continuously running on it’s own then you need to check that the compressor is actually running. If the compressor is red hot and not running then you’ll prolly need a new freezer i’m afraid 😥

    Re: De Walt battery

All fair comment Martin….I had my last Dewalt about 3 years before I gave up on replacing batteries and bought a new package…only then did I find out just how worn my old one was 😉

    Hi Martin

Why bother spending out on a new battery and charger??

I used to have a 9.6v driver until the charger decided to melt itself into one of the batteries (!)

Looks like some wicked edges on that Chris….on friday I repaired a Beko dishwasher, just touched an edge with the back of my hand accidentally without even realising….2 hours in A & E later I came out with a glued together cut (they were muttering about stitches too!) 👿

    Re: Zanussi 1200 pump problem

There is no easy way to check the pump is operating correctly other than under load (i.e. pumping water out of the machine) An experienced engineer can usually diagnose this by the sound it makes….if there is a blockage then the pump although operating correctly makes a different sound.

The best thing you might do is to simply check the whole system for blockages from the tub to the house drain and if that seems ok then you can be fairly sure the pump is at fault. (it is not unknown for these pumps to fail and they are not desperately expensive to replace)

Is this a DIY job to replace the fan unit (motor and fan?) or best left to the experts?

    Many thanks!

You will need a sound basic knowledge of electrics for safety’s sake, and a basic degree of mechanical skills too but the job doesn’t need any special tools to do other than screwdrivers etc.

Truely sobering…and maybe something that should be made a ‘sticky’ at the top of all the public forums Dave?

C00066074 = “cradle set outer” if it is, I hope that contains the part you need as well, if not I’m goosed on this one.

    Dave.

Just a follow up FYI….I ordered the cradle set but it looked nothing like the mountings on the machine….I managed to get a friend to TIG weld it in the end….proper job!

It is yet another example of a manufacturer banging out machines at all costs without the careful back-up of technical information and spares supply 😕

    Re: Indesit tech

thanks deltra, so I assume it’s a software error….in which case I hope someone can provide a part number for the eeprom…

    It’s a W123UKBG serial 210241150, the number on the module is 215007255.00

I have found plenty of listings for the UK model but not the UKBG model so whether it is different I’m not sure….i did a repair on the motor mount a few months ago and the was a pig to get the right bit, the ‘BG’ bit making all the difference!
