When the dial is clicking round the light will be flashing a certain sequence eg 5 flashes then a pause then another 5 flashes. let us know how many your getting.
You’ll find the model number on a little sticker behind the door.

Also been told about an Idesit that will do the wash program untill it reaches the spin cycle. Then the programer hunts round.
Told them to reset the programer but this has had no effect. Any thoughts?
The dial clicking round doesn’t apply to your machine – it’s for newer appliances than yours.As Martin suggested check the connections to the module for signs of burning.

I am also unable to use the temp controls at the top.Sounds like it could be an electronic fault – but only an engineer can provide a full diagnosis. Look in repairs@ for a local engineer or pop up your postcode.

Dazzler,
There’s normally a reason the paddles break off, most times i’ve replaced paddles in machines i’ve found coins and other random items between the drums or in the filter,
the plastic lugs off the paddles will end up inside the filter area so have a quick check – (the filter is bottom right behind the plinth)

Let us know how you get on with your plumbing
Also quite a few machines have an eco ball in the sump hose/filter assy – It’s there to stop detergent loss when the machine is filling up

Penguin45 has covered all other possibilities

ParticipantRe: Error code E1 on Hoover new wave plus 5 auto washer
E1 on hoover refers to it timing out when filling up, heating up or draining.
Have you checked the filter? a common cause for drain problems is coins getting stuck in the sump hose/ filter housing.
Pull the plug out 1st!

When the dial is clicking round the power light will be flashing. Count the number of flashes it will pause briefly then keep repeating the code. The amount of flashes indicates an error code.

If your plumbing is ok and the dishwasher isn’t siphoning;
It’s time for an engineer to take a look – pop up your postcode or look in directories for a local engineer.
