ParticipantRe: old refrigerator
Thats only a baby ,until recently i had a customer with a 1938 fridgidaire ,the old lady who owned it sadly passed away a couple of years ago .She told me that she got into trouble from her father for buying it on terms and at the time they were the only family in her street to have a fridge and in the summer they used to keep things cold for the neighbours ,it also had to have a thermostat fitted within the first year 😯 but had never given any trouble after that . I know her son still lives in the house so i presume its still there Cras

ParticipantRe: NON PAYMENT
£28 labour 😯 let them do it while your taking £58 off a decent customer who appreciates your efforts some fool is doing twice the amount of work for less money, mind you steven customers like this are in abundance at the moment ,trying it on only after you have finished the job ive had a run of em just recently the latest was this week after fitting a time clock the customer started arguing about my labour charge this was after we had priced the job over the phone and i had charged less than was quoted sometimes you just cant win 🙁 Cras

ParticipantRe: bbc watchdog
exactly the same happened to me over ten years ago ordered an element for a stoves cooker that was on back order not in stock at stoves or anywhere else at the time ,customer rang after a week complaining that it just wasnt good enough ,i explained that she would just have to wait until it comes in or try somebody else if she wasnt happy ten mins later the phone rings a man from trading standards telling me i had entered into a contract with customer and had to complete the job otherwise they would consider prosecuting me :rolls: Never did go back to fit it and am still waiting for the prosecution …..toothless little hitler..

ParticipantRe: Abusive Calls
i never know what these people hope to achieve by shouting or dishing out abuse all it does to me is make me dig my heals in and be far less cooperative ,i think it just shows a lack of inteligence on there part to be honest ,as this type of person cant have a reasoned discussion without ranting and raving .I operate a zero tollerance policy where abuse is concerned swear or threaten and thats it no more comunication . ParticipantRe: Set up
i always wonder on programmes such as watchdog etc who decides whats an apropriate charge ? for instance if we go to a blocked pump we charge £50 plus vat where as a sole trader will probably charge less and the manufacturer considerably more so whos right and what laws state you can only charge x amount of pounds ? ParticipantRe: Is this job worth it ??
agree with bagman we run a small company two engineers ,me and my nephew and it does give you the option to let the customer seek a second opinion if they start taking the p*ss or are in any way abusive.I will not put up with any abuse whatsoever ,we had a customer a few weeks ago called the nephew a f**king thick t*at when he pointed out that it was the oven thermometer that was faulty and not the oven (we had fitted thermostat 6 months previously) told nephew to pack his things and leave ,customer has rang on numerous occasions to complain about my nephews attitude :rolls: but i will just not communicate with him .The way i look at is for every one person that thinks we are crap i can produce 100+ who think we are the bees knees Cras

ParticipantRe: You want to charge me HOW MUCH!
love the customer that says i’l never use you again that price is extorionate when you present them with the bill, then ring you again when they have further problems years later :rolls: thinking that you wont remember who they are ,they seem to remember the quality service long after the pain of parting with a few quid has gone 😀
