Re: Currys tech guys cleaning service

oh dear oh dear they have really not thought this through at all have they , bearing in mind our operatives are doing nothing else day in day out it will still take a minimum of 2 1/2hrs to clean a double oven (no hob ) this will involve protecting the area with dust sheets, plastic tarpaulin and news paper stripping out the interior and cleaning this outside in a mobile bath ,all the interior cleaned and doors removed and split to clean between glass the cost for this is £55-£60 no caustic used just a set system of cleaning and lots of elbow grease .I dont expect the operative to repair the oven at the same time although some customers think that some how having it cleaned will miraculasly cure any problems they have with it :rolls: and yes you do come home looking like you have bathed in gravy 😀 i think after paying £80 (£99 for a range) your customer is going to expect it looking like new and 80 mins ,with the basic equipment they provide is nowhere near enough Cras

jazmiester what appliance are they asking you to clean? i really cant believe they expect engineers to carry out this service and how long do they allow you to carry out the clean . Im a silent partner in an oven cleaning business and whilst i have in the past got involved in cleaning i would never have the time to combine the two on the same day ,the oven cleaning operative cleans 3x double ovens a day each one takes 2 1/2 hrs to complete and drives a berlingo style van full of equipment to do the job .I can see lots of disappionted customers if they pay £80 to clean an oven only to recieve a quick wipe over with a cloth :rolls:

Re: Currys tech guys cleaning service

i really dont see how you could fit it in to your day as an engineer ,for instance a range cooker cleaned to the right standard takes approx 4-5 hours a built in d/oven around 2-3 even appliances such as f/frz can take over an hour if done properly. And then there s the extra equipment you would need to carry around ,(dip tank for shelving etc in the case of ovens) When i first saw this i assumed that they had teamed up with some national cleaning company to offer this service :rolls: and i really cant see anbody wanting to pay 80 quid to have there washer cleaned 😯

Re: Tried to advertise with a local directory

agree with penguin one of our best forms of advertising is magnetic business cards that we ve been handing out for the last ten years 😀 i have a customer of mine who has one of my wife s oven cleaning leaflets pinned to her notice board that we posted through her door 5 years ago

Re: Tried to advertise with a local directory

dont worry there are better advertising mediums for our trade out there i speak from experience as i have advertised in this type of mag in the past and the response was very poor and the quality of calls not brilliant(mostly integ d w that nobody else wanted) However my wife advertises her oven cleaning business in 5 directories a month for the last 5 years and gets a great response so some trades they are ok for .It seems that some of the mags do operate a closed shop mentality others not ,last year my wife wanted to advertise her business in a new mag and was told that she couldnt as they already had sufficent oven cleaners in there book ,when we got hold of the mag we found at least 5 plumbers ,4 builders ,etc but only one other oven cleaner 👿 so it seems they make it up as they go along :rolls: cras
