ModeratorRe: Work Providers …
As both Lawrence and I have seen from experience of our small cooperative it can work. However, what must be agreed at the outset is that allocated areas are stuck to. ie This is my area you do not enter it without telling me. This may seem abit harsh but our experience of dealing with manufacturers/work providers has left our industry working the ‘Im having that job bugger you’ What Lawrence did not add was that initially we started off with five members,(15 engineers) after about three months two got the boot for poaching work from the others. We now are back up to five with two new guys following the rules. Hopefully, we will continue to grow. I suppose what we have learned is perhaps why Ken started UKW, you have to work together, because if you dont the Man/WPs will chop you to bits.

Another little snippet, and a continuation of the conversation had at Sibson the other day regarding Bryan doing Saturday & Sunday working for them. If you were not in attendance a rather heated debate went on between Bryan and Kevin (MDM) about the sense/ethics of working weekends. It now seems that Mr Nickling has decided it’s such a good idea that he is intent on thrusting it upon his other indies. Your point I think Kevin 🙁

ModeratorRe: Gorenje again…..
Gorenje first – we sell them, not a bad budget machine assuming you get the cheap WA61111, not too good to work on if you have a major fault such as a bearing change, two year guarantee. Or – ISE2 better to work on with independent support, cheap parts and at the same money and guarantee.
End of line – I guess you have already answered this yourself. (parts are expensive)
Finally, Miele a nice machine, technical information non existant so you have to use a Miele dealer. Parts out of this world expensive – consider an ISE10.Dales-Electronic

No good its the big writing on the compressor will start usually with between two or four letters followed by numbers.

ModeratorRe: Compressor Alternative
If Bryans capacity is right you will need to us a quarter of a hp bearing in mind it is a two door.
On another point Bryan, whilst I appreciate that you retrofit R600a compressors (as I do too) to R134a systems (at our risk) it is not good practice to suggest this to others. In the case of Subs he could find himself in hot water if this repair goes wrong and the customer claims against him for both repair charges and loss of food. Or Milord he fitted an unapproved compressor to our Lux ff – guilty, £1K fine. 😡Dales-Electronic

OK lets try it this way. The wire that we went to number 6 on the Ranco goes to number 3 on the Danfoss and the one that went to the number 4 on the Ranco goes on the number 4 on the Danfoss.

ModeratorRe: hotpoint ff91/92/93 ?
Compressor motor should run when the compressor is in operation, there are two types one, with a fuse the other without. Part numbers for the two common ones to go are 2601683 and WPAR1417 both available from shop@ to left.

Looks like its a fifth of a HP so you could use anthing with that size Aspera NB1116 etc, but to be sure I could do with the internal capacity in litres.

Sure to be the compressor – Unless you can get a cheap repair it may be time for it to go to fridge heaven.

ModeratorRe: Scrap & Weee
Waters (sorry don’t know your first name) If you look at it this way, it sort of makes sense. If you carry out a repair on a customers appliance the old part that you have replaced is still the property of the customer and the new part becomes their property once they pay you. Equally if you sell an appliance to a customer you are legally obligated to take away the old one (if the customer does not want it, its becomes waste and you need a waste carriers licence) unless the customer wants to keep the old one and signs a disclaimer to that effect. So say you sell 100 appliances, the Environment Agency will check that you have paperwork covering the numbers – say 70 old appliances that you sent for scrap (and have the weighbridge receipts) and 30 that the customers wanted to keep and you have 30 disclaimers. Its all in the papertrail. Regarding the duty of care certs – we don’t do them individualy we do a block when we dispose of a quantity. Hope that helps – if not I can let you have a copy of our consignment notes or if you are at the meeting on Friday look me up and I’ll show you the system. Ian.
