OK before it all goes up like a bottle of pop lets try and resolve the problem rather than the cause. Bearing in mind that you now have removed some of the insulation and can now get at the drain pipe this is what I would do – obtain a suitable piece of pipe and fix it to the existing funnel, seal the joint with silicon sealant. Now take the new pipe and run it down the outside of the existing insulation so that it feeds into the defrost tray. Leave the old drain hose in situ filling it in at the top with same silicon. Fix the new pipe to the outside of the insulation. Masking tape or similar will do the job. Finally, fill up the hole (if you have one) where you removed the insulation with suitable insulation material.

These early WMAs are renowned for bearing problems, Id put it on its back, pull off the sump hose, remove the heater and see if you can see an obstruction (ie a sock) stuck between outer and inner tub

Not too difficult – power off remove 1 black screw from motor cover and turn thro 15 degrees motor and cover will drop down. Remove and replace with supplied new motor. However, you will probably find that a new hood is cheaper than the motor.

ModeratorRe: Indesit F/F Freezing all the time
Hi – it may be that you need a thermostat but before you go down that route you need to carry out afew checks and report back. You state that it is freezing up all the time – do you actually mean that you have loads of ice in the fridge or that food is freezing up? ie is the milk freezing? If it is just an ice build up the first thing to check is the door seal – does it touch the case all the way around or have you got gaps? If it is causing things to freeze up then you have to find out what temperature it is running at in the fridge – if it is running between an upper and lower temperature and that just happens to be below freezing, then you should change the thermostat. If however the motor at the back is very hot then you could have a shortage of refrigerant or the motor is failing. Check these first points and let me know the results.

3 is not an error code – i would suggest that you should have changed the evaporator cover which includes the fan not just the fan.

ModeratorRe: Hotpoint F/Freezer. FFA60.
Could be either Jim, sometimes the hose gets crushed during manufacture when the foam expands. I use one of the ‘kettle type’ steamers, if I can’t get it to flow from one end I try the other. Sofar its never let me down.

Firstly has someone moved any of the thermostat wires, if not it would suggest that you probably have a thermostat fault.

If all the facia lights light up this is often the dryer board just behind the facia pcb cover.

Almost sure to be the drum bearings – if you are out of guarantee it will almost certainly be too expensive to repair, if in guarantee you will be better having a fixed price repair from Hotpoint.

ModeratorRe: Work Providers …
The crux of the matter is this, you have to adopt the ‘all for one and one for all’ principle. With most people worried about upsetting wp/mans we find ourselves grasping at straws and taking all work that is offered even if it means pinching it off your mates. This type of game does not work in a cooperative. You have to select your area and stick to it, if you want to expand you do so with the agreement of the coop members (not an easy thing to do) and if they say no, thats the end of you expansion. You also have to agree that if one company gets grief from a manufacturer you are all liable to lose the work. From our experience there are two types of engineer, one that stabs you in the back and one that doesn’t. If you are the former then a cooperative is not for you, if you are the latter and can work within the framework you might get chosen.
On the subject of charging, I see no problem with that, someone somewhere has to pay the admin bill. Where we are different is that we don’t charge between £10-20 to pass the call.
