Much better value for money in my opinion.

Just for your information, the module alone is over £150 😮

I’d go along with Martin there, dump it and buy something better.

    Hi Bill,

Could you check inside the fridge for the rating plate and look for a number beginning 39?????????

There’s two versions of this model.

Well I wasn’t to be honest. I’ll have to remember that one 😉

    Re: Isn’t it great when……

It’s a PITA when that happens. The only solution is to charge the customer for the wheels, or at least the handling charge to return them (if you are able to). Trouble is though, for the price of them it’s barely worth the hassle.

What’s the part number of the wheels ?

I may be able to sell them on for you.

It sounds like the spark genereator has packed up. As it’s a gas appliance, time for an engineer I’m afraid. They aren’t normally too expensive though (the part).

PS, duplicate post deleted for you.

    you need a ‘ball sensor’.

Yep, technics1200’s machine may well need one, we’ve had one of these fail as well.

The machine we are currently waiting for a PCB for has a completely different fault.

Many years ago I decided he was indeed correct.

    This is very true indeed.

Having been selling spares for 20 odd years now, I had similar reservations, selling spares looses us a job.

As Ken’s Dad says, the punter has already made his mind up that he’s gonna do it himself anyway, so, better make a spares sale than nothing at all.

But it’s a bloody mine field. How far do you go with fitting advice without putting yourself at risk for some idiot killing themselves etc 😕

Do you give a refund on a misdiagnosis when the punter returns the part……

    ….. the list is endless.

I have to say in the main, we don’t have too many problems, as long as people are made fully aware from the outset where they stand. Quite often though, we’ll get a call on the back end of a spares sale, for the obvious reasons 😉

    Re: Hotpoint WMA Spider Bolts

I’ve noticed most of the WMA’s we’ve done have only one bolt per leg on the spider 😕

I guess GDA/Merloni have done the “stress” tests though.

I haven’t seen any yet where the bolts have loosened or sheared off, but then the bearings are failing before they have a chance to 😆

Anonymous wrote:Do they all come like that? And why would a parts dept sell that to an end user thinking it was a complete item?

Because they assume that you would have all the relevent service information to hand. Spare parts are always sold on the understanding that the end user has the relevent knowledge and expertise to fit the part correctly and be aware of any modifications required etc.

One of the downsides of DIY appliance repairs I’m afraid.

These are for a customer bonz, he already bought the spider and bearing kit, and you know what customers are like 😉

But thanks for the tip, if we ever need to fit any ourselves I’ll use the Zanny one’s.
