    Re: hotpoint wf860

i have the smart card and reader so programing is not a problem and i do deal with emw when i am stuck its just i have a few good ones and wondered if there was a way of knowing what software was currently on it
i can tell what the spin speed is using my rag but as for what drum / motor or hot and cold etc no clue so currently i am fitting the boards and reprograming them even though they may be the same software
but the chances of having the right board with the right software i suppose is extremely low

    Re: hotpoint problem

just to update this thread i left the applaince on one side for a bit then got in a smart card this did not cure the fault
i then got a little angry and changed valves pressure switch motor pump and front display board and heater
    still same fault
i then aquired a working board from a doner machine (i have a testing rig to run these through a wash) the board was fine i fitted to the machine it got to 4 mins the display said wash rinse and spin then 3 mins then 44 mins exactly the same as the last pcb sthe display still highlighted was rinse and spin but proceeds to do a rinse and then after 44 mins it finishes properly it is the same result whenever you run it through a heated wash whether or not you turn off the heat
also worth noting is after the initial warm water is dumped 44 mins is displayed

i then removed the second pcb and restested on my rig and it too now does the 44 minute thing every time
so when all is said and done
it aint the motor front board pressure switch pump heater or valves but whatever is wrong either damages the pcb or the software so i now have 2 duff pcb’s and one wf840 in a million pieces going to scrap

had a lot of these go down you can usually trace thw wiring back to the module it is the plug with 3 wires on the bottom of the board you will see a triac that will most likely have gone bang

Re: Hotpoint wma loose bearing !

an engineer i know worked in a carpet factory in the 70s he used to repair the big machines they had and he said that when a bearing came loose in its houseing they used to use something called speedy sleeve said it just fitted around the bearing and filled the gap very tight then you would persuade the bearing back into place and it was a s good as new he said they never went wrong
only trouble is i have searched and found nothing similar online and he knows not where to get it from

    Re: hotpoint problem

i am fully aware that they time down and auto adjust but this machine gets right down then adds on 44 minutes
i have had it running with different loads next to an identical machine and they both get down to zero at the same time then this one starts again
the initial wash estimate of roughly 1:25 now takes well over 2 hours

Re: hotpoint wf740 not responding to switching on

if this is the version with the large central display then the lcd is backlit by 5 leds which fail so either replace the leds or get another boards from emw about 45 quid

    Re: hotpoint problem

right have checked that i get no earth leakage

    as for the fault
it gets down to 0 and displays wash rinse and spin
then it resets to 44 minutes and will count all the way down again and then finish the cycle normally
this to me seems like the machine resets the time at certain points for the display but it is struggling to complete whatever task should be done for the 44 minute display i am going to strip down the pump and pressure system as i think this may be related
if any one else has any ideas they are welcome and if i do get it sussed or learn anything else new i will update this thread for future reference

maybe the machine is a perfectionist and was just not happy with the wash and felt the need to do it again

as for the fault at this point i would be inclined to start taking off every part whilst scratching my head

I do loads of these and it is normally the door interlock which often takes out the pcb and i am afraid that even emw do not sell those ones
