    Re: EMW

At some stage you have to decide who you are and nail your colours to the mast. We will eventually come unstuck if we try to be all things to all people.

Correct me if I’m wrong but this site was set up for independent service providers, by independent service providers, and owes a large part of its success from the support and interest shown by independent service providers.

They are the ones who turn up at national meetings, The ones who are helping us to get the training for p&g off the ground and for the most part the ones who help us out as moderators and contributors in the forums to keep it all ticking over.

We will be making a big mistake if we think we can censor what they will or will not say in the forums by either request, or worse still, instruction. My advice is dont go there.

Granted that I can see that a telephone call or two may well have been in order. To inform Tony of the strength of feeling within the trade about suppliers not having a trade pricing policy in place. And to give the guy time to make his mind up and come to an informed decision. In this respect alone there is merit in your concern.

This is probably what you mean by forming a policy for such occurences.

But at the end of the day if he or any other supplier chooses to ingnor the concensus of opinion expressed in trade forums then he or they should be prepaired to accept and bear the consequences.

First things first, have you gone through the trouble shooter guide in your instruction booklet for the machine ? i.e. checked for blocked filters, kinked hoses, water supply etc.

If so how long does it stay on for on say a colourfast 40 degree, wash as these machine do have long wash times.

Have you tried doing a maintinance wash at 90 degrees with the machine empty and a small amount of detergent to desludge the machine.

    TRY these first

Re: Bosch SRS4012GB/05 – spray arms don’t rotate

It sounds to me as if there is some kind of serious blockage in the recirculation pump.
These machines are not the easiest to work on, and on some of them the whole base section has to be removed to gain access to the recirculation pump.
I would strongly advise you call the engineer in for this one.

Sorry Ken but you have got the topic history wrong here.
It was first muted in the subscribers forum, and you personally asked dave to check it out.

Dave e-mailed tony who responded with the line that it was not worth trying to distinguish between trade and public. Basically he couldn’t be arsed.

It was only then that the lads gave him a slaggin in the open trade forums. He had his chance to do something about it and chose not too.

Pehaps this will now encourage other trade suppliers to have a pricing policy. Better yet it will discourage others from following suit.

I just wonder who you got the PM and posts from ? probably other suppliers 😉 (that was a rhetoical question by the way)

Can we cool it a little. First of all Kev has stated that he wont delete any more posts regarding spaming from trade members.
The fact still remains that EMW are charging us the same price as joe public and that aint on. That was a view held by us all so i dont see them as victims, just tossers, who make our job even harder.

When it comes to slaggin people off then i’m affraid no one is exempt
if they incurr the displeasure of any of our members, it is not something that should only be reserved for manufacturers or large networks.

I seem to remember someone saying to me ” I’ll not be gagged ! ” quite right and niether will any fooker else. As I pointed out at the time there are always potential consequences for any remark or post made.

Granted that as Admin of UKW our posts have to be more measured and balanced than most but we are still entitled to our own individual opinions, and as part of the ukw community also entitled to express them on the site irrespective of who owns it.

I suppose it all depends if you have a shop or not. for those that do then a good few sales can be picked up on the back of b.e.r vac repairs.

The other point is that it’s another avenue of help to joe public that doesn’t bother us as much as giving away technical advice on laundry and dishwasher products.

If it can prove to be popular over time we may well even attract a sponor for the forum.

Nothing ventured as they say……….. 😉

I have to agree with Kev. I know that ken and Dave are far better acquainted with net etiquette than either Kev or myself but when I look at other sites they tell people to seek permission first, to add a link and we should follow suit.

You have asked me to start sell advertising on the site which I am more than happy to do.
But if we are going to give it away for free it doesn’t help me much in my task.

This guy is just another case of running with the hare and the hounds he cant have it both ways, if he’s selling to the public and offer them product at the prices we as trade have to pay, then he can pay for the privilege just like Masterpart and all the others I’m about to approach.

Yeh we’re maskin it that well that a blind man with his first braile book can read where we’re goin’.
This lot gets more interestin’ by the minute with the approach from glen group. Would be nice to make some headway on this before Sibson.

We all know whats gonna happen the minute a few Serious logo’s go up on the new site. The rush will be balistic, it’s getting to the stage where I’m almost frightened to blink in case I miss something.

Perhaps we are now free to negociate a reduction on what these firms obviousley regard as retail prices.

Perhaps it just been an oversight on their part that they have been overcharging the trade for their products 🙄

It seems very strange that we can very easily distinguish between trade and public access on this site.

We should ask all these firms to state their pricing policy between trade and public and vote accordingly with our stock orders. 😉

    Re: Domotechnica 06

I have been mulling this lot over in my mind and I am just starting to wonder if Domo is the place to launch ourselves for several reasons.

Domotechnica is all about selling product to the larger retailers. Many of the manufacterers have their sales teams geared up to push as much product as possible to win market share. So therefore, it is their sales
teams that will be there in force not neccessarilly their service divisions.

Will their be, to some degree a clash of purpose in that we may simply be seen as an annoyance to people who are mainly there to sell their individual products rather than trying to answer questions that they neither have knowledge of, or interest in.

As we have already discovered Domo is no cheap exercise for anyone and as such we dont want UKW to be viewed as a distraction, so we need to have some sound reasons and stratagies in place before we consider attening in any capacity. Wether it be as a exhibiter or buyer.

I have no doubt that reasons and stratagies abound a plenty but they need stating before we go any further, as there may be more cost effective ways of achieving the same goals.
