neptune wrote:Wilf , I have tried all of the above. I have asked questions on the internet , asked universities , nobody knows. I f we take this to the extreem , using thin enough wire , I could build an electromagnet , powered by one AAA battery , that would pull cars into my backyard! Come to think of it , I might start a scrapyard!
from what I remember from school physics lessons is that you need AC so 1 AAA battery will not really do much at all.

have you inched on the timer with a torx driver to the fill position? assume valve ok.
darn site easier to work on than the later Indeshite stuff! oh and test the heater is not earthed, seem to remeber that will cause odd problems.eastlmark

neptune wrote:I am asking this question simply coz I dont know the answer. Suppose that you build an electromagnet. You take a long piece of copper wire, that will providr 1000 turns on your core. Its resistance is 10 ohms. You connect it to a 10 volt power supply. The current flow is I=V/R which gives 1 amp. Now I seem to remember that the strength of an electro magnet is proportional to ams X turns = ampturns. So the magnet will have a pull of 1000 amp turns. Electrical input power is IxV =10 watts.
Now rewind it with a wire twice as long. So now 2000 turns. R is now 20 ohms. Current is I=V/R = 0.5 amps. Still 10 volts. Input power is IXV =0.5 x 10 = 5 watts. Magnet strength is 2000 x 0.5 = 1000 amp turns.
So we now have a magnet of the same strength , energised by 5 watts instead of ten. Can some genius tell me what is happening here?Mornington Crescent?

just worth checking the pump is not open circuit?

Never seen any spacers on any in 11 years 😕
He means the pastic strips that fit uder the facia and fills the gap between the control panel and the door. (of course you have seen them!)
sorry cannot help with part number but must ask why you need so many?eastlmark

Good! thanks Paul, didnt fancy the job myself! there is no seal showing on the parts diagram so I assume its just bonded. Cannot be the only one though, there is a white build up of grunge all along the joint and the floor is rotten underneath so I reckon it could have been leaking from day 1. the leak falls straight on the floor off the concrete weight at the back so by-passing the drip tray and float. not yet 4 years old….Bosch quality product.
