I was going to mention a bottom of the league southern teams drubbing of a Northern club yesterday but thought better of it……

Yes Spurs can be an embarresment at some of the less important fixtures, I know, dont have to tell me. 😳 add up how many points we have lost in such circumstances and no one above us is safe. Never mind.

no action when switched on – you can programme ok but nothing starts
    no initial drain pump action

have checked pcb mod no signs of any damage
    door switch tests out ok,

    any ideas most welcome

as its built in just look at panel in first instance

you need to hold down the start button for an age to reset that machine. (until the light flashes rather than just goes out IIRC) I got caught out on one the other day with a blown capacitor as it appeared to not be doing anything when in fact it was still in the wash cycle. Was not until i touched the heater (hot!) that I figured it out.
    just a thought.

Re: Clamp Meter info required please..

I have long been a champion of these, after the megger the most used piece of test equipment in my bag.

customer complains washing machine not heating? Prove otherwise by hooking up a clamp meter. Tumble drier not working on full heat? then you can test the operation of both heaters by monotoring the current drawn. or just want to check for your own peace of mind that a diswhasher is heating once its back in its housing without waiting and opening the door every few minutes to feel the water. Testing defrost heaters on fridges, checking multi function ovens are working on all elements….the pissabolities are enless. 😮
its also useful to make a short extension lead with the very outer sleeving removed, exposing the 3 coloured wires. You can then plug the appliance into your lead and monitor the machine in situ without removing the lid and also read any earth leakage by clamping around the earth lead. Dont forget to remove your lead before leaving the house though!

Try and find one that works within our current range though, My one has a 40A range which is fine right down to very low currents but some read stupidly high 200amp+ and may not be so great on the low currents.
and remember that you can only clamp a single conductor.

PS. I see the team that tonked Spurs 4-0 in this years FA Cup have just been dumped out by a northern club, on their own ground as well. 😛 😆

We have a lot else on our plates Jim to worry about one bad night.

twas a great goal. Back in the day I used to be a regular at the O’s (when I lived within sight) they signed an old French international, Simba IIRC, who scored some cracking goals and turned the teams season around so much so they made the playoffs (loosing at Wembly to some bunch of Norherners 😉 ) Looks like history repeating.
now desision time, do I go where I swore never to tread, Emerates, for the replay?

Yes, Milan may be Northern Italy but its Southern Europe by anyones standards and one things for sure, its way south of Manchester.

lucky to scrape through there against southern competition, Jim. should have got a draw out of it, would have been deserved.

one more time…….. come on you O’s!

true, and I think they programme them to order rather than keep a stock.

E8 means a faulty alternating valve………which is the real name for the part you just replaced.
check your wiring connections maybe? the plug not pushed fully home or pushed a spade out while pushing the plug in? never known a leaking valve to damage the module so thats unlikely. Basicly the microswitch on the valve needs to give a closed or open signal back to the pcb. there are only 2 pairs of wires, one pair to the motor and one pair to the microswtich so its quite easy to test, faulty new valve must be a suspect.

assume you mean the air break nut on the Smeg made ones???
They can be tight and there was a tool, part number 971450207 but I am not sure it is available anymore. No one ever used it anyway, I always use the slotted screwdrver and hammer technique! Use it like a chisel to cut a groove in the nut and then tap it around a bit until its loose. Never broke one yet and get the old one back on carefully and the groove will be out of sight.

    Re: Miele W526

yes it always amazes me how Miele heaters stay in and not pop out. Having said that, never had one come out or even leak so somehow it works. I just follow the marks on the old heater to position everything, if you have not pushed it in enough, the ntc will not fit as it hits against the return loop of the heater and as for those horrid clips…
Perhaps a Miele trained engineer might want to come on and elaborate the correct way to do it.

Jim, have you double checked that ball in the sump hose, the plastic retainer works loose and the ball intermittently jams. Best to remove it altogether and ask the customer to report back to you.
