    Re: whos the idiot

I recall a similar problem with Whirlpool dishwashers a few years ago.
If the machine was installed near to an air brick or some other source of cold air it wouldn’t work in cold weather.
This was to prevent the machine from starting up if it was frozen.
The solution was to pour a jug of hot water in before starting the machine.
Slight inconvenience usually fixed by correcting the installation.(ie bung up the hole)

Slightly different scenario with a tumble dryer however which has to be externally vented and will be affected by the outside temperature.
I think that the “not fit for purpose” argument is perfectly valid in this case and the poster on the public forum should be supported and not slagged off for his opinion.

People come onto this site for help not to have their intelligence called into question.

    Love and peace

    Re: Poor quality fill hoses

I have a good stock of Wpro (whirlpool) hoses which I bought in a previous life which are top quality but cost a few pence over the odds.

Don’t know if current stocks are of the same quality or affordable.
(well you know what Whirlpool prices are like 😉 ) but you gets what you pays for.

Re: Are Chest Freezers no longer suitable for Garages ?

I bought a Zannussi ZCF57 chest freezer several years ago and there was some kind of grant if you scpapped an older freezer £40 if memory serves.
It was marketed as energy efficient and the cabinet and lid are 10 cm thick.
It was floating round my garage during the floods of 2007 and is still in perfect working order.

It’s been down to -8 lately and no condensation at all.

Maybe they don’t make them like that any more. 🙁

Re: What’s happend to the specialist?

My ad in YP simply says “Call a specialist”.

Works for me as I specialise in all the stuff that the other repairers are afraid of which is mainly built in dishwashers and anything american.

    Small workload but profitable. 😉

Standard 3/4 bsp hoses go on ok with assistance of pipe wrench and save a few quid.
BTW I’ve done a few and no failures.
