It shouldn’t leak at the vent, but it does, so watch out for that, guys!!

    Steve.

Turning the tap down reduces flow not pressure and someone could turn it full on again.
One of these will fix the problem.

Free second rinse. Three wet days in a row, well that’s unlucky but you’ve probably got enough clothes in the cupboard to cope. Mike.

Yeah and turn your underpants inside out when dirty and save washing them so often 😆

Lots of threads to choose from for spare price bashing…….

    Chris,

The article quoted extols Whirlpool’s green credentials which is far removed from the reality of premature scrappage and criminally high spares pricing.

Standard refrigeration units can be repaired cheaply and reliably.
Heaven help us when we are held to ransom by this new technology. 😡

But would anyone want to buy one with Whirlpool’s spares pricing policy?

    eg. This week washer 2.5 years old,mint condition,timer u/s £167 for part.
    Machine cost £225 new.

Top load USA w/m gearbox was about £90 a few months ago.
Quoted retail today £137.78+ VAT 😯

A good week for the scrap man.

When the fan just absolutely won’t come off I drill a hole in the fan to access the screw.
Then drill an identical hole on the opposite side to balance the fan.

Makes the job easier on the return visits too 😉

There is a hard foam strip stapled to the top tub cover which seems to serve little purpose and is not shown in part diagrams.

No one has mentioned examining the condition of the drum shaft and the brass collar that the shaft real runs on.

Bearings don’t fail unless they get wet!

If the shaft is chewed up abort the job and scrap it.

I used to do these on a daily basis when I had Whirlpool work and I wouldn’t attempt a bearing change but always fitted the tub half assy and a new drum thereby avoiding the recall at my own cost to do the job again.

OK for DIY bods but I have to guarantee my work and the price you can get for a bearing change these days doesn’t cover the cost of doing it twice.

BTW job time total 45 mins from ringing doorbell to finishing the tea! 8)

£60 is about the maximum you can get in these parts unless its a B/I dishwasher or SBS fridge freezer

    Just a point on kettles.

I do a lot of sub work for a water heater company and no responsibility is accepted for limescale damage which I guess is the most likely cause for kettle death!

The stock answer given is “we don’t supply your water and have no control over it’s quality”

In other words PAY UP. 😛

Would not this course of action possibly lead to further complications 😯

No it would prevent further breakdowns 😆

Seriously though I went to one of these yesterday (Baumatic BDW45) two previous under warranty breakdowns for water in base with no obvious cause and same fault again.
Advised customer that this is what these beasts do and to save his money and get a new one next time it goes wrong!

New circulation pump will fix the leak but no guarantee that this will fix the other fault.

I would seriously recommend one of these 😉

From what I remember of detergent courses over the years the softening of rubber bits is due to insufficient detergent and/or incorrect program selection.
