Re: Whoaaaa. Puts things in perspective.

This really does put things into perspective.

My next door neighbour died in his bed on monday morning aged 38 leaving a wife and two teenage kids.

A really active bloke playing tennis & football to an almost professional standard and never a days sick in his life.

The post mortem revealed hypertensive heart desease which means in words of one sylable that his heart just burst.

There are no symptoms of high blood pressure and the first symptom is often death!

Get yourselves checked out guys even if you feel OK.

Call from a nursing home I do some work for came in on the answer phone at 00.05 am today.
“Can I come and see to a resident who is bypassing their catheter ” 😯

Hopefully they got the right number before the morning!

I have tried to find the source of this noise, it is definitely coming from the drum group, it is not the cabinet. Very difficult to pin down when its whizzing round at 1600 rpm.

I recognise that noise as my ISE 10 was doing similar.
The noise was traced to the drum pulley moving on the splines at high revs and making an incredible knocking noise.
New pulley fitted and no further probs.

Thick, spongey carpet too. About half a centimetre clearance to the work-top :rolls:

Ditto! but they had removed the feet for extra clearance 😯

Re: how to remove whirlpool fan?

Put a spanner on the pulley end of the motor to stop it turning.(there is a flat on the shaft for this purpose)
Find a spanner of suitable length to wedge accross the fan then put another spanner in the centre and use a big screwdriver at the other end to turn the fan and unscrew it.
    Never fails 8)

Re: ISE 5-2 Vestel making holes in clothes ?

Had a call recently to a complaint of tearing clothes.
    (Not ISE)
Did all the usual checks on the drum. No obvious faults.
Then did the Hercules Poirot on the clothes and found that all the damage was on the front of the garments and as no washing machine could be so selective in how it chews clothes then the damage was caused elsewhere. :lesson:

Re: Whoaaaa. Puts things in perspective.

Had a scare myself a few weeks ago.
Woke up in the morning and half of my face wouldn’t work so went to A&E thinking had a stroke.

Was put in a bed within 10 mins which was worrying but was diagnosed with Bell’s Palsy which is not serious and gets better without treatment.

Blood pressure almost broke the machine though so I was put on pills to
fix this and now have normal BP.

High BP has no symptoms and is common in over 50’s and can be life threatening.

So get yourselves checked outbefore its too late :lesson:

    Re: can i sell bulbs!

I have tried the low energy lamps and whilst they are Ok for ambient lighting I have difficulty with reading with them and many people with sight problems worse than mine will have greater problems.
I have stocked up with old style bulbs to see me through my old age and I would advise anyone else to do the same pending the introduction of better quality low energy products.
    Isn’t the EEC wonderful! 😈

No need to remove the cabinet
The machine loses rigidity if you do
Remove the agitator then tip machine backwards against the wall.
unclip pump and push to one side leaving hoses attached.
Disconnect all wiring to motor and unscrew three hex head screws (1/2″)
and pull gearbox out with motor attached.

Too late now but did you check if the air diffuser was working before ordering?
Easy test is get a small mirror and look into the air diffuser then press vacation button and watch it close then press again and it should open.
If faulty the usual cause is stripped gears in the motor unit because it is not strong enough to operate if iced up.
I never throw the broken ones away as I can often patch up a broken unit with salvaged bits.
Every little bit helps as the advert says 😉

Ps. all the new ones are labelled “Made in China” so don’t expect an improvement in quality or a price reduction 😈

    Re: Whirlpool 3LSC8255EQ1

The hex head screw is in the recess in the centre of the cam.
It may be hidden by debris unless someone has removed it in which case the agitator will pull straight off the centre post.
