Yes, You just press the button & hold until the light goes green.
If that doesn’t work there is a fault in the electronics.

Was that in the “Bermuda Triangle”?
That eerie place bounded by the ancient manors of Great Field, Long Hill and Kings Wood where items of value and motor vehicles disappear without trace never to be seen again.
A curse which I have fallen foul of on more than one occasion 👿

    Hi Max

Just take off the agitator and any spacers then tip the machine back against the wall, take off the pump hoses and disconnect wiring from motor & capacitor.
Undo three bolts and gearbox drops out,no seals to worry about
You will need a 3/16″ & a 1/2″ socket for the bolts, clutch kit comes with instruction sheet.

Re: HELP !! Whirlpool not spinning right

Fitting a clutch is straightforward enough.Just drop the gearbox out of the bottom,no need to take the cabinet off and make sure you use the correct spring.
But before you start check for oil leak from the gearbox into the clutch which is indicated by a spray line around the bottom of the cabinet.
The new clutch won’t last long if it gets contaminated 😉

    Hi Matt.
You dont say where geographically you intend to seek work.
Some areas fare better than others.
My home town has a population of approx 240,000 0f which 100,000 claim means tested benefits so they don’t throw money at you.
There are 10 fewer appliance repairers in the yellow pages this year than 2 years ago and the local newspaper is full of the “free estimate” boys.
My kids have left home, my wife works and my mortgage is almost paid off so I will make it ok to my bus pass.
I have been doing this job for half a lifetime and I wouldn’t like to try to start up in the present climate.
I took up self employment after working for two major manufacturers where I gained a wealth of experience and also made all of my mistakes at someone elses expense. 😉
I would recommend this as the best route into this business if this what you really want to do.

Look out for the temp sensor on Whirlpool ovens.
Described as NTC but if you test it it is PTC which may confuse diagnosis 😉

    Re: w/pool american style dryer

These motors only seem to last 18 months to 2 years if in heavy use so it would be a good idea to take one along.
To get the fan off without breaking it first fit an adjustable spanner onto the pulley end of the motor to stop it turning then go round the back of the machine select a large spanner and jam it accross the fan blades.
Then use another spanner and large screwdriver as a tommy bar to turn the fan clockwise.
It will always come off in one piece thus depriving Whirlpool of another £20 of revenue 😉

Re: halifax/ Bank of Scotland stopping free buisiness bankin

Alliance & Liecester are doing free banking for under £1m turnover which includes free banking of cash 😆 😆 😆
Too many forms to fill in for limited company as Natwest only charge me about £17 a month so not jumpin ship just yet.

    Re: VAT De-registration

I de-registered from VAT also about a year ago.
One thing to watch if you are going to do it is the value of your assets on which you have claimed back the tax on.
My accountant advised me that as long as the tax owed was under £1500 that the revenue would not claim it back.
I held back for a while as I had recently bought a new van and claimed back the VAT.
I don’t sell appliances in order to keep the turnover down as I am close to the threshold with the repair work alone.

I was recently forced to have a week off in Spain because I had banked too many cheques in the last quarter 😉

Tried a 10A fuse myself once and got a nice puff of white smoke from the timer.
The fault was fixed with a new start switch on the motor.
Oh yes and a new timer 😳
