Re: Help please AEG Lavatherm 56840L >Expensive/failed early

surely you already have your expert opinion in the form of the AEG engineer who repaired your appliance. you will probably have difficulty in getting a professional to give you a report after the fact as he will only have your word for the facts

it is my opinion you should have approached the retailer first before repair completion stating appliance was not of merchantable quality and not fit for purpose

I would contact citizens advice for the best way forward if there is one

unless another forum member has another idea

Re: aquastop hose why so expensive??

i assume you are talking about miele

yes they are expensive but machine will work without it

the hose goes inside to another valve. if you connect a hose direct to this valve machine will work. you will have to leave aquastop valve connected electrically as they use 110v valves (unless you want to add 240v coils and short out wire to aquastop ) but just leave it tucked round the back

    Re: AEG LAVATHERM 57700

just had a white knight with same problem. machine stopped but heater was on as soon as door was closed. relays are mechanical and fail a lot. just ordered relays for a miele td that is not turning element on also just had a miele washer with reverse relay failure

trace element wires back to board may be connector P

info should be in manual or it is in mine

    Re: AEG LAVATHERM 57700

looking at the element pictures it shows 2 thermal fuses at the top of the element assembly. although they say they are not replaceable they look like microtemps and you mat be able to change
as for connect i have got faulty part from connect that other people have sent back

have had a look at prices best i have found is aeg themselves

    http://shop.aeg.co.uk/product/899647408 … ng+Element

£87.44 delivered and if you rang lux trade you would prob get 20{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} off that

as far as fault is concerned i would look at the relays on the pcb. if they stuck on then element would come on without fan and blow microtemps. see if element is powered without unit running

    hope it helps

    Re: Hotpoint

heres the way i woud play it

you know the neutral is right
on new ring its term 1 (left hand side of picture) old ring bottom of picture.
so all you have to sort out is the right wire to connect to term 2 on the new ring

power off, open term block of cooker, all knobs in off position
connect 1 lead of multimeter on buzz to live of incoming cable

    disconnect all three wires
in turn put other multi meter lead to each wire
after connection if it does not buzz instantly turn ring knob on and off. you are looking for a live that is switched by the control

once you have found this connect to term 2

the other 2 wire are only a switch for the hot light so it does not matter which way round they go on terms S and H

    hope it helps

    Re: Hotpoint

it sound like you are mixing up the wires for the hot lamp with the wires for the ring
since the stat on this ring switches outer to inner contact if you buzz the live to the ring ( turn knob on and off to check and get it on the right side of the stat it will work

    Re: Hotpoint timer diagram

you should be able to check it with an ohm meter

you know that the heater and motor are in circuit but the heater turn off 5-10 mins from end

so with side off set timer at 5 mins measure resistance and disconnect motor to check reading dissapears ( you will still have a higher reading due to the timer motor
then turn timer to where element is in and reading should go down
watching meter if you turn timer down you should see heater disconnet first then motor
the only thing you could get wrong then is the reverse contacts

    hope this may help
