to be fair to connect, i can count on one hand how many recalls we get for their 2300w bosch ring element, and we tend to do 2-3 a week… been using egoqtx ones too as theyre only few quid more, £70 for gen bosch is excessive when they dont seem to last much longer (on the whole) compared to connect patterns

had one of these, went thru diagnostics. couldnt decide what fault was, if theres variable error codes in diagnostics, disconnect pcb, check it, assuming no blowouts then pinch terminals and refit and it should work

    Re: The One Show

i remember when dom littlewood was on a car programme as the expert on buying used cars. never liked him a lot. likes to over egg his mix… and blow his horn. and likewise just because a tradesman isnt a member of a tradesbody or association doesnt mean they are a cowboy… plus i know of several elder customers who swear by a local builder. but because hes all smiles and was at school with their children its fine, even tho i can see hes pretty much ripping them off for a reasonable job or leaving them with shoddy workmanship to offer a competitive quote. the customers dont spot it because basically they cant, but when ive worked on stuff hes fitted the cupboards and fittings are never square and you can see where corners have been cut in the bits not on show to the customer

also… “just because which is a respected magazine, it doesnt mean its best buys actually are the best buy”

Re: Why do some oven elements last longer than others

its a neff/bosch. door hinges on these are like soft cheese if anyone puts the slightest extra weight when open. the gap formed then doesnt allow the oven to heat properly and overworks the element.

then theres the oven cleaners using their spray cleaner…

then theres price vs quality. even decent element mfctrs are getting poorer quality, and the cheap cheap is hit and miss… and tying in with that is bryans overclamped brackets 🙂

    Re: Bosch SGS3042GB Problem

Clicon, please make sure your information is accurate in the public forum. That might be the correct part for your machine but it is not the listed part for the OPs (original posters) dishwasher. You may very well find that the element is the same inside but there are other parts fitted to the whole unit that will not be. these may then cause danger and/or expensive and irrepairable damage to the electronics. As mentioned previously, they are supplied as a “whole unit” for a reason. by unclipping them and refitting the element not only do you run the risk of a leak, you may as well fit the new ntc and diverter motor *if fitted* as the diverter motors have been known to fail and take out the electronics.

Please also remember just because you have solved your problem sucessfully, it does not always mean it is the only solution. £70 for an element is a lot of money to spend if its not actually faulty, or if its damaged the electronics too. hence my advice to get it checked out first. its very likely it is the element but speaking as an engineer i wouldnt order one in just on hte hunch it had failed.

moreton it would help if you have a friend who is an electrician to do an insulation test on the element in return for a couple of beers, and as previously stated, if you feel confident enough, visually check the pcb for damage too, before ordering parts.

    Re: Bosch SGS3042GB Problem

heater elements arent cheap and only available as a complete unit. in order to retain watertightness, you need to unscrew from the sump base to fit. dont be tempted to unclip them from the side of the holder…

ask KWATT for part 264512 but they arent cheap so worth checking that the element is at fault first. earth trip faults on a bosch could be chewed wires, for some reason mice seem to like the insides of bosch and neffs ALOT. could also be leaking onto electrics.

cant on this specific job tho as we arent gas safe, for other amica issues weve usually sorted stuff out ourselves as its normally not as much of an issue, which is why this issue is so frustrating.

    moulded plug ?

obv check for continuity between pins and terminal box rather than relying on a lightmeter beeper

AA have you engaged the interlock manually using a screwdriver (prog obv set to drain only) only ask cos some of the classixx’s came with plastic peckers that would wear quite quickly, service replacement was a metal pecker. even had a bnib bosch turn up and when lifting it off the base packaging the door swung open cos the plastic pecker had snapped in transit.

either stamped bang in middle of the top metal edge of the door – or occasionally on a sticky label left/h/s edge of the door
