ParticipantRe: Fridgemaster MTBL 140NG – Too cold – Thermostat?
gut feeling is its shot, almost straight edged blocks of ice are classic usually irrepairable failures.
however you do say its integrated. it might just not have enough air circulation where its cited, and with the oven next to it heating air behind the units, that could be enough for it to overwork if the thermostats phial tube is too close to the outside of the carcass. id be tempted to pull it out the unit and run it stand alone for a few days at no3 and see if it goes back to normal.
as for process installing it 18 months ago having an effect now, elaborate? what WAS your process of installation ???

ParticipantRe: Tribal UK bust
There really should be some kind of legislation as to the number of live internet retailers that a company owns. fair enough if they are buying up the contracts of already sold items, but it should be a case where there are more than 2 like for like net retailers owned by the same parent group, then some have to be dispatched. eg currys dixons pixmania and the other one

ParticipantRe: Hacked Off About Internet Pricing?
Dr dill the big issue here is not the internet retailers on a whole, its the mass discounters, this has turned into a sweeping generalisation.
there are internet retailers with proper prices, and internet retailers with silly prices
there are b&m shops with proper prices and b&m shops with silly prices.
the only way i can see this ever being sorted properly to become “fair” is a major overhaul of the way goods are sold. every retailer would have to become an agent, and then the manufacturer pays you a fixed fee per sale you make for them.
all the time you have kickbacks and multiples charging brands for floorspace (which they use to fund the shop floor discount) you will get unfairness.
Oh and itll never happen all the time we are eu, as brussels hates a bit of RRP price fixing

sorry for some reason i got that mixed up with the u/c fridgemaster f/f 😮
whitbytom wrote:there is a thick formation of ice 1/2 way down the back of the fridge.
whitbytom wrote:I don’t think it’s the insulation, as the ice is not thick
erm… contradiction either its thick or it isnt?!
regardless, whats the temp in the salad bin and in the front of the fridge?
also how often is the compresser kicking in, you say its running all the time, but is it actually permanently running without cutting out at all?
and where is the fridge? is it near a radiator or heat source ???
also check the seal of the door, the hinge pins bend and the doors can warp easily if the wrong kind of pressure is applied (ie leant on to get down to bottom/ pulled on to get back up)
if its not cutting out at all then it might be worth replacing the stat as it wont be recognising that its got down to temp but our experience of fridgemaster, id be expecting it to not last much longer.
also how long after positioning it did you leave it, before you turned the plug on???

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint EW74k, Freestanding cooker
iirc the timer only affects main oven cooking.
sounds very simple but have you tried to set time from the flashing 12:00??? i,e a complete power off for 20 mins to reset timer ???

ParticipantRe: Fridgemaster MTBL 140NG – Too cold – Thermostat?
sounds like isulation breakdown on the rear if the ice in the fridge is more than 1/2 inch thick?
easy trick as the stat on these controls both fridge and the freezer is to measure the temp on the freezer at same time as the fridge. if the fridge is -2
on min (i.e t/stat setting 1) then the freezer should be significantly colder than -20but im not a refrigeration engineer, just a retailer. hope that helps…

ParticipantRe: oven overheating
theres loads!
fagors used to be fan assisted, lower spec amicas are, diplomats, moffats etc
basically, back in the day, before circular fan elements, fan ovens were “turbo ovens” where a conventional oven would be fan assisted. iirc aEG WERE one of the forebearers of the technology
nowadays its been hijacked by the kitchen all-in-one companys and the multiples. who want something cheap by sounds flash.
. obviously theres static – which is conventional and no fan, fan assisted, and circular fan ovens. multifunction is merely a combination of fan assisted and circular fan ovens. theory is this, you can get away with claiming a fan assist oven is a fan oven, because it contains a fan, but it affects the way food cooks twofold (bit like free yard eggs, where chickens are housed in barns with gaps/holes in the roof :))
static ovens – heat from one section of dual circuit top element and bottom element, so heat rises, hotter at top of cavity
fan assisted, heat still generated by top and bottom elements, but fan circulates air in caVITY In order to even out the temperature. no gain in pre heating, but slightly faster cooking and more even cooking, when using only middle shelves 🙂
true fan oven, where the element is a ring element around the fan and therefore the fan is blowing identical temp air around the cavity, with little variance of temp regardless of position, obv design plays a part in this, so some true fan ovens are better than others, neff zanussi and hotpoints tend to be the best of the mainstream…
fan assisted is coming back more now tho, with the resurgence in value added kitchens, whereby a bargain oven is included in the overall price, it was common moffats, diplomats, smeg, technik etc would all be despecced versions from source manudfacturers models. get me? the upshot of this is also that should the top dual circuit element fail, cos its essentially 2 elements in one, you can get away with twice the normal cost of a ring element 🙂
indesit is prime example. the b&q and multiple favourite is a fie36k. this is a dual circuit + base element with electronic timer. the fi31kb which is more diversely available is a ring element & top single circuit grill, with minute minder pinger. these are far more economical to keep going and cook a lot better ye are a smidge more expensive trade 🙂
