Re: Watchdog bait and switch scam

theres nothing wrong by turning up with a few machines on board to swap out straight away, its the aggressive nature of some companys that apply hard sell tactics.

“well its a free call out, but because you asked us whats wrong with it and weve told you your machine is ber, the cost is now £XXX please, however we have this machine on board and we will write off the call out should you wish to buy a new machine right now… if we have to come back we wont be able to write off the diagnosis” customer over a barrel and im sure that must consitute bait and switch…

in theory, if they are going to operate that way they would be obliged to offer the payment paid for the diagnosis against the new purchase within a reasonable period of time, i.e 14 days…

if you were fitting it yourself, id be looking at getting a bosch/neff with the full s/s interiors.

the 53e33 is a base spec “tactical” model, which is fine say if your a kitchen fitter and wanna put it in a high-quality kitchen refurb whilst adding to your margins, its jsut theyve taken all the useful features out of the standard range in order to get the price down as low as possible.

if your budget allows you would be far better off going for a mid-range model that creeps in at about 55o as just a box (i.e unfitted) as the feedback we have had from people who have moved over from a full s/s interior bosch to a polynox base bosch is that they dont seem to dry quite as well. havent quite worked out why yet tho…

either that or soft cheese shafts. its weird tho,

particular to lux models since the plastic drums came out, you seem to gain forward and backward play occurring after 3 or 4 years of use, rather than usual hotpoint/bosch/servis wibbly side-to-side wobble.

ive never found front to back play in any other non-lux models either

anyway about a year ago, took an old aw1001 out with customer percieved bearing failure, and discovered this peculiarity. after a bit of idle fiddling 😕 i found the play to be not in the bearing. weirdly it was almost like the shaft had grown in length, which is impossible – obviously. because the pulley nut clamps the pulley tight to the bearing race, on box-fresh new machines. so you kinda have to assume the bearing is being pulled into the tub further.

hope this makes sense, cos i got lost half waythru : 😳

Re: The Green Mile…How Do You Avoid Death by Electrocution

could aways mock up an extension lead with a push switch in between a socket and plug, so that you physically had to push it in to get current flowing when examining a machine working with the sides off… when you used both hands to reposition it, it would then obv break the circuit…

    or doc martens…

    Re: Amica problems AWCT12L

gotta say it was always the awct10’s that have given us headaches – leaky solenoids that drip on the tub then onto the motor, or pcb corruptions… not actually had any build quality issues…

    bad batch maybe?

and i think this is why amica are trying to get the retailers to self-sevice the machines, as they will be more motivated not to write off a machine they have sold, which obviously lowers the rate of returns – iirc ken on here is having something to do with supplying spares, so they should be much more organised in that respect.

i do know amica are a bit annoyed at gdha’s attitude to fixing these, i think gdha as a company see it as a bit of a cash cow (maybe they issue guidelines on how long the engineer is allowed to spend on each call out – if its liek the telephone system which only allows them to stay on the phone line to a customer for a maximum of 2 minutes…?) and dont forget most of the gdha guys are refrigeration/cooker specialists, and those that are familiar are often baffled by the whole diagnostics setup the wm have… its certainly more comprehensive that the average big name brand…

bit obvious but mind your fingers too! its thin sheet metal, sliced my thumb really deep tightening up the salt sump on a bosch in the summer. never even occurred to me until it happened that the metal was gonna be like a razor blade!

    Re: Warranty Direct

this sounds daft but im assuming you definitely have no record of any payment being made to your bank account whatsoever at all?

its just we did a lot of work for a landlord, who always paid by cheque few days after getting invoice. then one time he rung up saying he needed to pay by bank transfer as it was coming out of a different account. we said fine blah blah just this once. well the bookeeper wife decided to then use it for next couple of jobs we did for them next, without telling us. so needless to say first response to where is my money is “im sure we paid you”…

anyways now we insist on remits from them, turns out the wife thought it would save on a few stamps by doing it all online… so now we get email remitance :rolls:

as a follow up, spoke to zanussi who have claimed there are no known failures on the 12070 models, and when asked why the bearing manufacturers were different they rolled out the change of supplier. so i then asked why a 12070 ive just ordered in had the same polish bearing even tho it came off the prod line no more than 4 weeks ago… they couldnt answer us on that one…
