ParticipantRe: hotpoint rfa52p thats too cold on #1
defo all connected up, unless theyve omitted to connect the other end of the cables deep within the machine???
if it helps didnt think the recent frigidaires (rl6003/r5303) had “clicks” for any other stage of the stat other than the on/off

ParticipantRe: Waste Carriers Licence
I cant see how t11 is actually enforceable. sounds more like scaremongering to gain money, which is somewhat tantamount to extortion ?!
does this mean when collecting an old b/i fridge that needs new £80 of new hinges (due to my weee obligations because the owner has no way of tranporting it to a weee site e.g. no car) we need to ensure it is unrepairable prior to transportation? i.e CUTTING THE COMP. PIPE TO LET ALL THE REFRIGERANT OUT – yeh thats environmentally friendly isnt it… or do we have to go further and crush it first before loading it to the van???
which brings me onto legally how can an appliance be deemed irrepairable or repairable for resale ??? surely any appliance is potentially repairable, and consequently it is also equally irrepairable depending on either how much parts are and how much someone would pay for a repaired machine.
theoretically the only irrepairable weee are machines where parts are obsolete…
poppycock?!?
Also just occured to me, if the customer sold the appliance to you privately, then it would not be weee, right???

ParticipantRe: Cracked Tile
In theory, if its so old a replacement is no longer available, then the tiling is not going to be of the equivalent value of a replacement, unless deemed antique, and/or in perfect condition.
if neitehr can be ascertained then compensation would be low. if its not that old then the replacement should be easily obtainable. it sucks to say this but maybe they realised theyre tiles were too dark/light, scratch too easily etc, and see you as an easy way of retifying a bad choice.
the other thing is if a whole new floor is definitely resting on this, then get an independant flooring expert to inspect the cracked tile on your behalf, if it was laid incorrectly, or with the wrong tile or type of adhesive, or not enough adhesive, then it can lead to premature wear/breaking, all this would be negligence on the tiler. but if you dropped a hammer/motor then just hold your hands up 🙂
anyways had that with a landlord about a 20 y/o lino which was well worn when replacing their crappy currys indesh!t, claiming for new flooring because getting the old one out the back foot caught the well-risen edge and torn it forwards… fortunately i always take a few camera phone photos of any damage caused, which also clearly showed numerous ancient knife cuts, stains, fades, scrapes, and stretching, which were duly attached to our report to our insurers. result, when LL was presented with our evidence and an offer of a £30 discount on the WD it was duly forgotton…also on another note, had this with a “new” wooden floor from a customer who happened to be…
WAIT FOR IT…
the owner of a flooring company…
Whilst undertaking “warranty” work on the appliance, it was noted the sink drainage system was poorly assembled/designed and the waste was not attached to the correct spike, leading to a blockage from sink waste that was probably affecting the operation of the washer.due to this the machine was fully disconnected, spike blanked off, and customer was informed not to use the appliance. they were warned of the plumbing issue before we left and advised not to use the machine before we had a chance to rectify the plumbing. however this was ignored, and we beleive reconnected by the original installer/husband because the when we got there the blue blanking cap was not in the spike (they dont just dissolve). first they tried to claim to the manufacturers it was because the washing machine was at fault – implying because we were out under warranty that the machine was obvioulsy not fit for purchase, and that it had leaked. as the authorised engineers for the manufacturer we had completley checked the appliance and obv supplied our report.
the manufacturers insurers must have laughed out loud at their claim and rejected it, then it went quiet, we assumed it was all sorted, then their own insurers contacted us to launch a claim against us for leaving the appliance disconnected, stating that had that not happened the mrs wouldnt have thought it had been repaired, and used it as normal. it was only per chance in the original letter sent to us it had said that the mrs had gone out and come back to find the the machine not operating properly. this was immediately forwarded to our PL insurer who refused to pay up, claiming claimant negligiance.

ParticipantRe: ctd80 still trippin out.
machine was leaking and tripping out, pump housing was overfilled and f/s polystyrene was completely saturated. hardened dampened fluff debris was caked all over resin of the top of old style pump. tested pump + was dead, assumed was damaged from water ingression thru a “pore” in the resin when it overfilled, so replaced.
bench tested for hour (apparently would trip out after about 20 mins in house) and worked fine, admittedly without a wet load – so tested by semi-filling pump chamber with water, and it had all reached the water tank without incident…
without the aid of a service manual, im really starting to scratch my head here now though… is it poss something on the pcb ??? all the stats seem to be operational, and if it was the element id expect it to trip out within first few mins, not after 20 mins!
apparently still leaking (although not as much) so wondering if theres something ive missed, or if the old pump could have scrambled any eeprom on the pcb… aftecting operation of the pump as there isnt any board component visibly burt out
so cant work it out. if its not the pcb it has to be the socket (lead has continuity and similar resistance on each internal cable, implying no breaks)
but the socket + f/box hasnt been modified at all since before this dryer was put it, which would kinda rule it out. also has to be the drier, cos its always 18-22 mins into the drying cycle.
in fact it *supposedly* never tripped before it did a bearing + belt replacement, but the earth strip is in contact with the shaft, and i didnt touch anything else. so not sure quite how true this is, bouyed by the fact its first tripping was at least 5 weeks after bearings were done…

ParticipantRe: Sebo or Miele?
b****y tescos.
they cant leave any money making stone alone these days, dont mind them selling their crappy cylinders that give up after 6 months but now their treading on the bread and butter brands of may independants
and bad form to numatic too for allowing this, not that it surprises me… (considering they supply homebase with henrys to sell for under £80 – way below a 100+ order trade rate…). on an independant level its hard enough competing with comet/currys to sell henrys with more than a £10 margin, but now tescos have obviously got a “nu” contract, and this aimed to the other indie retailers out there, is their really a financially viable point continuing to offer numatics produce… other than to get customers in… Considering every sale is a lost purchase on another higher margin product ?? i really dont wanna go down the route of unethical practises by rubbishing numatic, in order to get a higher margin purchase like the big multiples will, but the manufacturers dont seem to be interested in helping anyone than those who can take the most stock off them in one go.
this economy is mad!
No swearing please! Edited.Don

ParticipantRe: Your opinions on a small claim….
id get labelled a cnut for this but i totally agree with you, currently tryign to obtain the £125 settlement of a £225 new washer from someone whos bill is outstanding by 12 months. really tempted to go down the debt collection route – it will cost me as much as what id get for it but i could call on them at any time in the future too. vbut then i cant afford to lose that money, esp when its not only just my time that id be cutting losses on, its what i paid for the machine (a lot more than the £100 that has so far been paid, not including VAT)
the thing that really grates me the most is that theres chinese chippy and pizza takeaways on the other the side of the road and he can afford to use those at least 3x times a week, and his wife is wider than she is high, yet i can only afford to buy once of those 3 once a week at most…
something is seriously not right here. ps ive now learnt hes on fricken benefits. and has 4 kids. im almost sick with anger as im almost certainly paying for his takeaways 👿

ParticipantRe: Gorenje, Bosch or Siemens? Help!
well if your in london my co. delivers to west london.
if you provide postcode & house no, i can quote for full price inc del to room, for both siemens and the gorenje… or we can also offer del to room + install and disposal.
but to warn you i doubt anyone can compete with siemens for £378. are you sure thats a current listing of a price (i.e. in stock) and not a dead&forgotton web page ???
