Participanthad a lot of pm’s and was convinced to come back
im about to start my next fight with a self proclaimed indesit engineer who ‘knows more than me’
enjoy, everybody 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀

ParticipantLANDFILL!!!
nothing more, nothing less
the recent calamity, other than the naff motors that blow up as soon as you press the start button, is the fact that quite a few of them dont actually have bearing seals fitted, and the bearings are lasting around 6 weeks…. and they are NOT nice to fix
and we thought hotpoint were poor..

Participantbrushes in motor are the usual culprit!!
they usually lock the door and wont start !!!
hope this helpshelo_75
Participanthave you cleaned the condenser lately?
would explaint it
helo_75
Participantthats not usually a good sign, its normally the other way round
either the pcb is faulty, or the thermistor
trouble is, the thermistor is foamed in and cant be replaced, so unless you can test it properly, u got problems

Can you please post the serial number of the machine which can be found inside the door.As there has been a modification to the fluff filter in the dryer which could be the cause of the problem.except no there hasnt
pump filters are there for exactly that , to filter things from the pump
the modification is to the heater box itself, not the filter.. in fact on earlier models, it was encouraged to remove the fluff filter and the flushing valve.. i have the bulletin right in front of me
its all down to the type of washing im afraid
yes, i see some pump filters blocked, but thats no fault of the machine, its more down to the types of things you wash… most of the people i see wash dog blankets on a regular basis
i have found, however , that if the next time it happens, the engineer removes the eco ball, and top of the cage, it will perform better, and block up less
this is why hotpoint and comet (who i work for btw) cant comment on your ‘fault’ becuase, basically, there isnt one
hope this is of some help
Last year a new fluff filter was introduced to combat the problem of fluff build up in the heater box. As a comet engineer you do not have access to all the relevant information. As an Indesit engineer I do.
how underinformed are you?
we tend to see machines sometimes quicker than you guys do
that new heater box has already been scrapped, but then youll know that, wont you?
hotpnt is the same as you, funny how he agrees with me too
your not being constructive at all

Participantsame as washer me thinks

Participantpig of a job, very difficult
top and front off, baffle off, drum out, lots of strength, plenty of time
ive found it best to loosen the motor, slip the belt over the shaft, then tighten it up
not a nice job at all
just make sure the plugs outhelo_75
Participanthowever, lights 1 &3 suggests an f10 fault
the machine isnt sensing the pressure switch
pressure switch is an inexpensive part, but commonly its the pcb thats at fault, and with that youll need an eprom
up to you which way you choose to go with it
hope that helps

Participantactually, all of us in the trade know exactly how it comes off
please, try not to be naive enough to think that none of us have come across one of these babies
ok, here goes
lie the machine on its face, remove or loosen the band enough for it to come off, its as simple as that, then the rear third should prise away from the front section, it will then, come out with a bit of jiggery pokery
however, you should be warned
after several years of warm washes, when the back section is removed , it will, almost definately change shape, and when you try to get it to fit back to the front section, it may well not go back
just a warning, ive done maybe 30 of those, and its been a very low success rate tbh, and often ive had to order both parts of the plastic drum to make sure they fit together
good luck!!

Participantnon coummunication between boards
could be a loose / corroded ribbon
or either pcb
or both
hope this helps

Participantim not going to get into an argument with you
things go faulty.. if youve nothing productive to add to this thread, then i suggest you just leave it..
do you really think hotpoint would offer their fixed price repairs if everyone believed their machines to be ‘not of merchantable quality’?
cos otherwise, andy would have rang hotpoint, and theyd have said ‘oh, thats because none of our machines are of merchantable quality – heres a new one’
ill set the recored straight, for you and the rest of the consumer rights brigade.. if the consumer can prove that there was a fault from the start , and it was an ongoing issue then the supplier of the machine has some responsibility towards the consumerthe pcb my well have gone faulty, but such is life, it hasnt always been faulty, has it
i do wish people would stop quoting so called laws, and rights they blatantly have no idea about, all it will do in the end is stop people like myself posting messages to help people out – im already considering stopping posting in the public forum because, frankly, im tired of people picking fights when we’re supplying FREE information, which , in an ideal world we would be able to make just a little bit more money for.
i bet you dont enter forums about your job, and post messages and advise people freely
in fact, im just a little bit nearer to the day i stop posting publicly
for reference… the pcb has broken down, because the heater relay stuck – a device introduced to the machines as a saftey measure to ensure the machine doesnt overheat/heat with no water in.. etc
bearing in mind the heater relay is switched on and off quite a few times during the wash cycle.. it isnt any different to you standing by the light switch in your living room, and switching the light on and off, for around 20 minutes
would you expect the bulb to blow at some point?
and would you contact the house builder and have them send someone round to put you a new bulb in because its ‘not of merchantable quality’thats me done in this thread, and probably on the public forums
