Re: 2nd hand machines with splitable tubs & brushless motors

Just a thought, if these theoretical machines are out there then if they were any good they wouldn’t be available to recon at an age that would make it worthwhile. A DC motor is not that much better than a good quality brush gear motor TBH.

Also worth mentioning that the DC control module for your machine has been obsolete and unavailable for at least three years now. 😉

But did you check the heater with a megger?

I have had more than one that didn’t register as faulty with my multimeter but did when zapped with my megger.

More likely a failed main circulation pump/motor, very common fault on the Indesit machines. 🙁

Have you actually checked the fuse in the plug and made certain the power socket is OK?

If they are fine then it could be any number of things, door switch, door switch actuating mechanism, control timer etc.

The dryer thermistor is known to cause weird faults and spurious error messages on these, also worth checking both elements for earth leakage.

I would be trying a new heater for starters. 😉

Are you using a multimeter or megger to check the element?

    Re: Masterpart

Only have one problem and that is high number of items out of stock. Don’t have any problems with web orders, 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of e mail queries answered promptly, don’t order over the phone. Ordered a door seal for a very late model Hotpoint washer on Monday(yesterday) before lunchtime and fitted it this afternoon. 8)

Some very competive prices when they actually have the parts.

Printed Circuit Board, the programme controller.

The thermistor itself is generally quite reliable, most likely cause is a faulty heater or main pcb.

    Re: Hotpoint Aqualtis F1 error

The motor connections on these Indesit machines are very poor to say the least and the electronics are very flaky as well.

The fact that it will wash and hopefully spin suggests the motor is ok. The dryer thermistor is a known source of intermittent, spurious faults and error messages as well.

No hard and fast cure apart from the obvious. 😉

Worth doing an insulation test on both the wash and dryer heating elements as well.

    Re: Hotpoint Aqualtis F1 error

A model number would help but in general the F1 error code is a main motor/pcb related fault. It can be anything from a faulty motor to a main pcb fault but can also be caused by poor connections between the motor and pcb.

    Re: IOT enabled Engineers

The reliability or otherwise of these devices doesn’t bother me, the totally non existent security does. As mentioned in many articles most of these devices have an admin/password that is simply admin/password and cannot be altered. Now anyone tech and security savvie would know how to protect these devices but 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of users won’t.

In a test run by a major AV security firm last week they connected an internet enabled kettle ( I kid you not, a bloody kettle ) within less than one hour it had been high jacked by hackers and loaded with malicious code.

Even though I will admit I am not in the first flush of youth I have had a long term interest in technology of all shades, having cut my teeth on a BBC B micro (Acorn) computer over 34 years ago. There have been many innovations in that time and I have to say that the internet connected domestic appliance is one the the more pointless and needless ones.

This machine is subject to the fire safety ‘recall’ has it had the modifications done?
