ModeratorRe: Noisy Ariston
What you actually have is a Hotpoint body with Indesit electronics in it.
The drum support on that machine is very strong and I have yet to see one break, I am in a very soft water area which does cause early support failure under certain usage conditions but I would say there is no chance that yours has. There may be something in the drum, the longstanding bearing problem was more or less sorted a few years ago but you could still have a bearing failure.
You could just have a foreign body between the inner and outer drum.
I think that your machine will be covered by a five year parts guarantee so if the bearings or the motor is the cause of the noise then you would be advised to contact the Indesit Company and pay the £90.00 labour charge.

The first thing to check is the sump hose filter. Down at the bottom inside black rubber hose at the back. Be sure to remove the mains plug first.

Martin, the tool that Goatboy posted a picture of some time ago makes fitting that belt to the vented dryers a complete doddle, did one yesterday, took about 15 minutes. Left hand side off, console loosened to allow access to one screw on the top left of front, split drum from front, slide belt on, refit front panel then insert the tool into the hole in the bottom of the cabinet, hook over the belt and with almost no effort pull the belt onto the pulley.
Not sure what the ‘factory’ tool for the condensor model is.
The special tool I have is exactly like the one Paul posted up but was made for me by Hotdog, another UKWG’s member, it only works for vented dryers though.

Masterpart list it as £47.00 😥 No stock there either.

According to Partfinder the PCB for that machine is a C00111886, the expensive one I’m afraid. 😥

ModeratorRe: Indesit WG1286 – repair help
The honest and simple answer is to dispose of this machine. Any recent Indesit machine that has reached five years old is at or past its ‘sell by date’ A low budget model range, sounds as though your bearings have failed or possibly your drum support has snapped.
Don’t waste your time.

Thanks Martin, obviously I couldn’t verify their claim of over 3 hours for that wash setting, but I definitely timed the spin without clothes at a fraction under 23 minutes. 😕
I will just have to keep my fingers crossed that it was an OOB induced glitch. 🙁Jim.

ModeratorRe: Indesit WIE 157S problem
I have edited the thread title, machine will almost certainly be a WIE157S. This machine may well have a five year parts guarantee if it is an ‘Evolution’ model. Check your documentation to see if that is the case. If it is then you will get all parts free and only have to pay the rather high labour charge, currently just under £90.00. 😥

None, apart from belt, thermostats, seals, drum bearings, float switches etc, etc, it pains me to say this as an ex Hotpoint engineer but there are far better quality dryers out there for not much more than you will pay for this. 😥

ModeratorRe: wma9 bearings
Others will have a different ways but I always use the ‘Blue Peter’ method. That is to say “Heres one I prepared earlier”. I always have a couple of complete drum assemblies at home. I find it easier to change the complete drum in an hour or less than try and do a bearing or rear half repair in the customers home. You will rarely if ever get the bearings out without a major struggle, something you don’t want to be doing on someones kitchen floor. Until you open it up you don’t know if you will need a drum support as well.
You should always change the drum seal, its not expensive and removing the whole thing again if it leaks would be a pain, I also always fit new plastic suspension pegs. I have had several instances of refitting the old ones only to have them come adrift later.
I strip and rebuild the displaced drum in my garage, much better than making a mess in the customers kitchen.
Jim.
EDIT. I would guess that in the past four years I have replaced the drum support on less than 20{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the drum/bearing repairs I have done. To date I have not had a single call back to bearing failure since the rubena seal was introduced. That would be around 50 at the very least.

You need to check the float chamber and the float microswitch, switch can stick.

You need to identify the time saver light by number from the top down, then use the information in the known error codes thread.

Any ideas? Washer dryer is no long under warranty 🙁
Don’t forget, you do have a full five year parts gaurantee on this machine. In this case it would not be economic to use it, labour charge is just under £90.00, just something to bear in mind for future faults at least until such time as the machine is over five years old.
