Re: Hotpoint DC23 Wash Pump
It is a distinct possiblity, on this Bosch produced machine. A very difficult machine to access, the circulation pump assembly on its own is almost £70.00 + vat. The motor complete is over £176.00 + Vat 😯 . Best advice would be see if we have someone in your area who can take a look for you rather than ordering expensive parts beforehand. Are you certain it is the circulation pump you are checking and not the drain pump?

Element earth faults on Hotpoint WM/WD Ultima range are well documented as causing spurious faults. If the element is down to earth only slightly it will often give the ‘no drain, check outlet pipe’ error message.
Heater problems on the old Hoover Soft wave/New wave often caused strange faults with the programmes as well.

Does it do a wash action when it has filled, if so this is sounding very much like a faulty timer. I realise it is difficult, or almost impossible to do in your case but if the machine was on ‘my patch’ I would be thinking of trying another timer, most certainly a ‘new’ one.
If you set the machine to a spin programme and it drains & spins but does not advance to OFF then I would strongly suspect a faulty control unit.

I have mentioned V bulletin on more than one occasion in the past to Ken, the ability to merge threads is a big advantage, you can also upload pictures and files direct from your PC without having to host them somewhere else which I also find very useful.
With regard to the ‘if it ain’t broke don’t fix it’ brigade the fact is that both of those forums run without any of the glitches that have occurred all to often here, new server or not. User profile/account etc are all in one easy to access and understand place, you can access other posters profiles, previous posts etc with a single click on their avatar which reveals a ‘drop down ‘ list. The whole package is much more user friendly in almost every way. There is nothing on PHP that I would like to see on V Bulletin or Invisionboard.

From that it would follow that you may not have had a plug in the first place as the WM62 is designated as a 1000 RPM machine.
Blue is 900, white 1100, no mention of a yellow one. The variable plug with wires to the potentiometer is a blue one as well.

If you go to the first of the two forums in my post you can see that feeds, Atom & RSS 2.0 are activated and available from the small icon next to ‘Home’ on IE 7 Menu bar, although it appears that IE 7 does not support feeds with DTD’s, whatever they might be. 😕

V.Bulletin gets my vote. http://www.cableforum.co.uk/ & http://www.chetnet.co.uk/ are two forums that I have used for many years, both run vBulletin and have features that I find better than PHP.

I have a sneaking feeling that the plug incorporates a couple of resistors, no idea as to the values. It may have some bearing on the motor action apart from the spin speeds, never actualy tried a machine without this plug.
The date code ( first two numbers of serial number) indicate that the machine was produced in March 1997.
Difficult to be precise on the timer model numbers, the 9042425 seems to indicate a similar timer, although I have never seen a red label on a Hotpoint 1603787 timer.
Again, the only way to be certain is to check against a new one. I don’t have one in stock but someone else may have, or one of the helpful Hotpoint/Indesit engineers that frequent this site may have more info.A bit quiet around here due to the holidays, may be a better chance of some further help next week.

PS. just to clarify your first post, when you say, ‘refuse to cycle’ but will drain & spin, do you mean it does not do a wash action after filling, not fill at all, or appear not to advance after filling?

Neons 1,2 & 4 suggest a fault on the dryer side NTC or dryer fan. Could be a simple broken wire to the NTC ( temperature control device) on top of the dryer heater box. Several other possible causes, please remove the mains plug if you open it up.

To be honest, unless you go for the Meile or similar then buying any Washer/Dryer for a family of 6 is not a good idea. It really would make sense to try and accommodate a separate tumble dryer somewhere.Jim.

You need to sort out the profanity filters Ken, I had to put spaces in S c u nthorpe to get it to post., however I could not post at all with the word spelt correctly, instead of the word being blanked out it just refused to post.
