What causes a suppressor to fail anyway?

One of lifes little mysteries, they just do. 🙂

If the dryer is 8 years or a little older then it would be better repaired than replaced with the average, lower priced stuff on the market today. 😥

The only test mode on these requires the hardware key and a test link fitted inside the drum. You could try pressing and holding the Start/Cancel button to clear . Can you cancel the time by pressing the Timed option button repeatedly until display says OFF. ❓

Faults should display an error code.

    Re: mains suppressor?

That is a very reasonable estimate, for that job, it would cost well over £20 in overheads to actually call to your house. fitting a mains filter is not difficult as long as you make sure you remove the plug. Sometimes however a failed mains filter can damage the wiring around it needing more attention.

BTW, you forgot the most important bit, model and serial number. 😉

Press and hold Start/Reset button, that should clear any Test or Demo mode.

I will have a furtive look the next time I call. I could see model numbers on the D/W & F/F but nothing at all on the cooker.

WD40 will shift the sticky goo (or white spirit) 😉

Or nail varnish remover, but then you had better ask kwatt, he is the forum nail varnish expert. 😆

Well I got the green light on the dryer but the washer is a no go.

Makes you think really. I have today installed ISE No:38, it replaced a 25 year old Hotpoint 18580 that had a faulty timer. Tomorrow ISE No:39 goes in to replace this 4 or 5 year old Bosch. 😥

    Thanks to all,

Hi Andy, already ordered 492159 from Masterpart, I won’t quote the price in case the customer knows someone in the trade. 😉

BTW. 581370 comes up as a Bosch Manual on Masterpart website. 😆

Wow, thats one expensive element to fail after 26 months. 😥

    Thanks Martin.

PS this is a spares enquiry, the other was technical. 😀

I wonder if Ken has already done the calculations, at a cost of £499 how many years of ‘average’ use would you need to do before it actually showed a saving against a decent £200 vented dryer or a good quality £250/£300 condensor dryer. I’m guessing 10 to 15 years. 😥

Open circuit valve coil to condenser will give rise to same symptom. 😉

E20 being a bit of a ‘red herring’ here from your customer I suspect ❗

P.S. The server is a right pain lately (it takes me flippin hours of extra time trying to help folks out here just because of it! :rolls: )

But fear not, the new server is (and I quote) “imminent”. 😀
Will that stop the water heater from working as well.?

Thanks Ken, so its not a condensor dryer in the true sense of the word and will no doubt be more expensive than either of the other two options.

    Jim.

EDIT, Yep £499 from John Lewis 😯 a lot of money for a Zanussi.

Re: Vented vs consenser tumble dryers

It would be interesting to know what make that dryer actually is. Why didn’t Which test that instead, or perhaps they have and decided it isn’t as good as itself. 😛 😥

For reasons I will not go into here, I have a very jaundiced view of Which reports, a large pinch of salt is often required. 😉

Just in case it means anything to the Zanussi experts out there, I forgot to mention that at one stage EE0 flashed up on the display. 😕
